Anyone here good with the stock market?

I bought a lot of shares in Marvel today (MVL) figuring that the price of the stock will probably double within 4 months when next quarters earnings come out.

Any thoughts on this stock?

If you bought high, then you messed up the whole plan.

You better offload it before you're forced on foodstamps.

I bought some AOL Time Warner, and some Microsoft stock a while back. Haven't checked up on it in a few months.

It looks good, but double in 4 months? I don't think so. If you've based that because of the success of the Spiderman, Marvel won't receive their box office share for 2 years, which if it does $800,000,000 they'll receive around $90,000,000. Yes, they will have a huge increase in merchandising, but if you look at companies like Oracle who has a yearly profit of around 500 million, they are trading at $9.50. Stocks are down so bad right now, the only companies that have 100% gains are penny stocks. Marvel has just become profitable this quarter for the first time in years and their profit was $760,000. So to expect this stock to go to 12 dollars with that kind of profit in 4 months I think is highly unlikely. Long term, perhaps. Always do your research. Good luck!

if you think the market is as simple as that, then you should just hold onto your money.

Check my sig if you want a good investment

I have been learning more and more about the stock market since our company went public last month....basically it's a gamble no matter how you look at it....especially in this financial turmoil the world is in right now.

In theory, the price of the stock already reflects the immediate future earnings. Just think about the fact that everyone already has the same information.
