So predictions, how low will it go? I remember few years back (more then a few actually) when there was a huge slide in dollar value and a fear of world inflation. Then immediatelly it went up alot.
So how low it goes before it goes back up? I'm not too savy in these things, so anyone knows/has predictions?

wait until china and russia start buying oil from iran in euros as opposed to the us dollar. (trading may start as soon as next week) it's not just nukes we are afraid of, but protecting the dollar and securing oil. we want to get at that oil before they do and they know it. that's why those two countries are warning us not to make ANY threatning moves against iran. the russians and china (have made) are making BIG oil deals with iran. pretty soon other countries are going to drop the dollar and use euros also.

i have been investing in gold and silver the past 6 months. as the dollar falls, these metals are going up like mad. you guys need to pay attention and invest in these metals to protect yourselves against a pending crisis. some of you will clown and joke about this, but if you don't want to do it for yourselves, do it for your family and kids. silver was just $7.55 when invested in oct. 2005. (just 6 months ago) today it's about $13.50.

of course i have invested in gold also, but i'm just bullish on silver because silver has more uses then gold. japan and china have a SUPER economy and will be needing silver and copper for years to come.

i want out of the porn game because i see no future in it with the powers that be in place. my best chance of getting out is by investing in silver and gold.

This is a once in a lifetime market for metals right now. If the US government collapses tommrow, I win. If the dollar becomes worthless, I win. If the dollar becomes great and the Euro takes a shit, I win. No matter what the rest of the world does, I still win. The best thing about metals is that they are not dependant on any one corporation, board of trustees, nation, system, institution or any one anything else to succed or stay afloat.

As long as the human race as a civilized species dosent collapse completely, gold, silver, copper and a few other metals will always have value. And if the human race does collapse completely making metals worthless with everything else, I'd still rather have silver bars as they could be used as weapons to throw.

I missed my chance to get rich in the .com stupidity rush and I am determined to make up for it. I have been investing in silver for years - back when people bitched about how it was "always $5 to $6 an ounce" and long before it was cool - a little at a time and I if it takes off right now I am really gonna make a mint.

Where do you buy those metals? How do you "know" you have them? Meaning, what if the company you were buying through goes bust, does your metal go bust with it?

Also, what are the thoughts about if war on Iran starts, dollar going up or down?

There are two ways to invest in metals:

History does repeat. And I am very familar with the 1980s as it relates to gold and silver prices. You have a point. Right now is not a time to buy in for gold or silver en mass I dont think. For people who to date have no gold or silver, its probably not the best time for them to start pouring everything into metals. It wouldnt be a bad idea for them to buy a small amount and hold and see where it goes.

I am still picking up silver little by little but I have curtailed my purchasing to a great extent. At one point, I was dumping every free cent I wasnt using to buy food into silver even to the point that I sold a couple of cars to do it. At this point, I am holding and waiting and watching. I sold about 12% of my stake as I felt I deserved a reward for my hard work, but I dont think it has gone as high as it will go yet, so I hesitate to dump a major stake when I really have no need for a ton of cash at the moment.

No investments are entirely safe. Right now, metals are is safe as it gets. Thats what I am saying.

amen. i wish i would have gotten started sooner. i'm just glad i woke up in time! i was lucky to get a few good domain names in 1998. i am doing well, but not as rich as some of the guys on this board. i can't wait to snatch up some of these mansions and having people beg me to get them out of foreclosure. metals will NEVER be the same again. i believe they can only go...UP!!!

you don't just invest in paper. buy gold and silver coins. gold and silver bars. a couple of gold mine stocks and the silver etf that opened today. even if the paper goes belly up, (dollar) you still have the gold/silver coins and bars.

if a war breaks out, i don't know about the dollar, but gold and silver will go up. i believe the dollar is almost finished. next step will be a one world currency. when that happens, we all are finished anyway you look at it.

Iran has its own market for oil now, so far all oil worldwide has been bought in US dollars. WELL NOT ANYMORE MY FRIENDS, now you can buy for euros in Iran! I LOVE IT

The dollar has always been "protected" because of all the oil that has been bought with dollars... But things are changing.
