eco101: I said current account deficit, not budget deficit. The current account deficit is the result of an imbalance in trade, and the US is a net debtor to the rest of the world primarily because, in the simplest of layman's terms, they import a fuck of a lot more than they export.

it's a tax on the rest of the world that needs to stockpile dollars to buy oil. if we tank the value of those dollars, it basically taxes those countries and makes it more expensive for them to buy oil. as long as oil is priced in dollars, america will have economic hegemony.

any country that threatens to start pricing in Euros will be a target.

America is still kickin asss. You try living in those third world countries. Even though the Euro is strongeer than the American Dollar, Try living in Europe and earning the equivalent there what you earn here. Its Damn Near impossible.

- more expensive imports ---> LESS $$ imports
- more competitive US products on the international market ---> more $$ exports

----> shrinking trade gap -----> reducing current account balance.
