In all reality, Candid going down was a learning experience for Bash. See, he went on the cologroup thread and Bashed me with his 17 year old friend Nysus. Also, some one posted a graph that was not even one of our graphs. This was the first time this year, the network went off line and our dedicated customers would vouch for that.

How's it feel Bash? Sucks doesn't it? And Candid has BGP too? You wanted to know how BGP fails, ask Candid. Do you have anything to add while you are running your mouth.

Have a great day!

I'll say it again.

Every Host goes down. It's inevitable. No host can have 100% uptime. There are just to many variables and alot of the variables are outside of the hosts control.

Unfortunately Cologroup and Candid Hosting will lose customers today. I been in this busniess to long and have seen it to many times.

The problem is they have the service restored as any good host does and now they customers thats going to jump ship with the 2 of them will lose 2 days more of propagation time and only hurt themselves further.

If your a host and going to flame me now about your uptime better make sure your's isn't the next to go down. The flames you post today will haunt you when the inevitable happens to you.

the downtime was minimal, who cares

your going to have one hell of a time getting a good price and quality hosting with maximum uptime like cologroup gives

candid is good too...

yeah its funny how nysus can bash cologroup, and then when someone leaks the info that he lost a customer to cologroup and thats why he is bitching...

hey nysus

made plans for your highschool prom yet? haaaaahahahahaha

Seems to me as if Candid Hosting has been losing connectivity regularly as of late. It only makes sense to desert a sinking ship because this has become a habitual pattern. It's important to look at current data and base your decisions of that. There are plenty of hosting companies that have not gone down as of the new year. And that's where I'm headed!

If yo buid your network so you have no single point of failures it is possible.

Eh? What the fuck are you on about? An isolated incident counts as regular?

Ok I agree ... maybe I should have worded that like this.

At the current rate that hosting companies are charging customers without having the expenses of redundant datacenters downtime is inevitable.

To make a network with no single point of failure would require a mirror setup in another datacenter and your talking double the costs your paying now at best for the redundancy.

So you either pay double or put up with little burps every now and again.

I meant no single point within the datacenter.
I visited a data center from Colt telecom some time ago here in DK.
That was no single point of failures. They had double everything.. Except their Core routers, there was 8 of them plugged 8 different locations to a redundant fiber ring they had setup that whent around their entire data center. Their fiber was setup similar to a spiders net
And their prices was lower than Candid's also so yes it is possible

I think they should switch hosting companies then.

Seriously though, People expect the internet or their hosting or their computer to work like its a T.V. or something; turn it on and it works for the next 10-15 years without fucking up. I don't think were going to be seeing that kind of reliability anytime soon.

To those whining about being down for a short time with Candid....

Jesus man, is it your first day online?

EVERYBODY has downtime sometimes, period. Welcome to the net. Any host that tells you otherwise is... oh, I don't know... full of shit? Makes me laugh, everybody has bad experiences with this host or that host, and then they bad mouth them like they don't have their good points. I was with webair and they are a joke. I am now with Candid and have been for the past six months with my own box. In that time, yeah, had a few spots of downtime but nothing comapred to the fuck sticks at webair. They're great when you are small time virtual, but when you go dedicated, they lack bigtime.

Candid isn't sinking, they had an small recurring issue and the issue is now fixed. Now, what else should we whine about? Maybe you should jump ship to another host, see if they're flawless. You'll find they're not.

It's called reality, look into it.

Actually, I did not loose any customers today. My customers expressed their concern and they realized it was a problem out of my hands. I do agree, if I kept going up and down all the time, I would go out of business.

BTW, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc. are rock solid, I agree. I sure wish I have 100 Million Dollars to spend on hosting for 4 Data Centers and 10 providers. Must be nice.

What kind of redundancy does Cave Creek have? Their prices seem higher than the average adult host, and I think they have some big ass customers, I assume that means they've got a kick ass setup. Does anyone know what it is?

I dont know what reality your living in but mine is a digital world. Yes it's hard to plan against all failures but if a host has several downtimes within a few months, this to me is a recurring problem. Once a loss of connectivity occurs all attempts focus on restoring it. After this, all attempts should focus on preventing it. Finally, I have seen personally Candid DOWN atleast 3 times since the new year. That's what I'm basing my decision on. Others have not.
