If you saw a dead bird would you report it to somebody ?

Given that the UK now offically has the wrong kind of bird flu and it is only a matter of time until it gets to North America too if got me thinking. If I saw a dead bird would I think to call and tell somebody so it could be tested. I am glad the person in the UK that saw the dead swan did call but I don't know if it would be on the top of my head. Would it be something you would think to do?

With the way things are going over here, (Scotland) then I think every dead bird found will be called in, doesnt matter if its a gull or a little birdie the cat brings home! I only live about 15 miles away from where the swan was found but no one is really bothered.

What is bothering us though is that the government is keeping it all hush hush. took them a whole week just to tell us all about it and get it investigated..If its not that serious then tell us everything otherwise we thinkg were up the shit as they are keeping things from us..

Calling it in helps speed up notifying their next of kin also.

birds die all the time, so dont worry about it,... unless it is an eagle or a condor. Then, yes, go ahead and report it, since they are in danger of extintion

Not sure if I would call in on ONE dead bird. They die all the time. but on two or more, I would have no problem making that call.

Every day birds die. You seem to be a bit paranoid to me.

What if it had the bird flu. What can be done after that?

Yeah though if the gov't went big about it straight away they would then be accused of fear mongering.

well one did have it and thankull somebody was paranoid enough. My point was that I don't know if I am paranoid enough. What can be done? Bringing poultry inside like they should have ages ago.

I usually pick up dead birds and wear them like hats. Then I sleep with them.. NO, you weirdo! Not fuck them, but just sleep with them. I've heard inhaling a lot of birdflu is good for you.

Ya know, Sarah? That's an interesting question...and I might not have thought to call it in, until I read this thread.

That's interesting. I've done a lot of research on West Nile, published a couple of papers last year on research I was involved in. People making calls regarding dead birds was a tremendous help in tracking the progress of the WNV geographically. So, thanks for making the call. Who knows, maybe I got one of your dead birds!

Tho the KFC "taste-enhancer" is not too bad!

I'd call the White House Switchboard at 202-456-1414, ask for Bush and report the sighting to him personally, but only if they put him on. Since he wants to hype it all up, he should take the reports personally.

Its Crazy, Becuase Today I Found A Dead Bird After Final Formation (im In The Army). What A Coincidence. I Didn't Report It, But I Burried It Real Quick When Nobody Was Around. Don't Ask Why, It Might Have Something To Do With Those Needles They Gave Me In Bootcamp.
