If you check the different registrars....

You'll notice that they are showing domains such as sex.eu as free, the ONLY registrar that is updating in real-time right now is EuroDNS.

So you are correct, if you are registering them other than at EuroDNS you are playing a lottery.

Lee

Soul Rebel, I pre-ordered about 25 names via Dotster, but no sign from them yet.

Did you get anything from them? Or do you think they fucked up?

It is going to be some time before you really know you have the domains. Even if you register now its still pre registration. It's lottery, even at the official registar.

i just registered few so its early to say. It's very possible those were taken already so nothing won't happen. eurodns site loads slow as shit. In worst case I guess the'll refund the registration fees.

Where do you come up with this shit?

From Friday anyone within EU can register their own .eu Internet domain name
04 Apr 2006
Several hundred thousand new .eu domain names expected when
EURid opens at 11:00 on Friday

The new Internet top level domain .eu was introduced in December last year, but
until now only holders of prior rights have been eligible to apply for their protected
names. From Friday though, it is possible for anyone within the European Union to
simply register whatever available .eu domain name they want on a first come first
served basis.

It actually opens at 10am GMT which was 9 minutes ago

As i mentioned above, if you pre-order over the past few hours and re-checked and noticed the domain you pre-ordered suddenly changes to 'taken' on EuroDNS you have nothing to worry about

First come first serves, means just that

Lee

That is not correct - EuroDNS is just showing "taken" for any domain that has had a application in the sunrise (no matter if the application has later expired) + those domains that have been pre registred via them (which just means that they cross them off in their internal ordering system - NOT the official whois.eu db). EuroDNS have no more edge than anyone else.

So if you saw a domain as "taken" yesterday in the EuroDNS system, then you should have checked the whois.eu, and if the appilication had expired, then you should just had found another registrar where the domain had not been pre registred/ordered.

Like polish_aristocrat said at this time its a lottery ticket system - that includes any domain you have pre ordered via EuroDNS.

Why does everything I read say it is NOT a lottery? It says on Friday it's first come first serve. Someone please explain this or is every site on the internet making shit up?

Ok - its not a lottery, where they will random choose a winner... however the way the landrush will work, then it will basicly be random which registrar that will hit the domain first.

Lottery because most ( or many ) people pre-registered domains.

So if you have f.e 100 registrars and in each of them a different person pre-ordered a particular .eu domain, and each of the registrars were saying they are gonna submit the application at the very first minute today, then its basically a lottery on who will be faster. Yes, first come, first served, but overall its close to a lottery.

That was at least the case with .info and im 99% sure its similar now.

Post all your 100 domains that you think you own, so we can check if you are correct... you have nothing to loose, if you are correct :-)
