But if anyone have "lost" a domain today that they feel is theirs, then they should contact the Czech Arbitration Court (CAZ) within 40 days http://www.adreu.eurid.eu/ - oh and remember to bring atleast ?2000 to the court http://www.adreu.eurid.eu/html/en/adr/fees/fees.pdf

If they would have tried to register the domains, they would have registered the ones that are still free...

If it's any consolation to you.... Romania isn't EU, so you shouldn't get the domain anyway.

It would be like having a .NSA TLD for all the countries in North and South America.

Think about it. Major corporations already have their .com brand and their native country TLD, its not practical to keep adding more id's into the mix.

I pre-regged loads, but only got a few.

dealdirect.eu
madames.eu
voipfones.eu

Pretty bad results, but I haven't heard anything from Dotster, so maybe they grabbed some.

Another update from the EuroDNS system...

Quote:
Due to the exceptionnal amount of data we had to process due to the .EU Landrush, we will need the next few days to sort out all the new domain names properly. They should appear on your account next Tuesday at the latest. In selected cases, some of the domains you have pre-registered may not be available, either because they are in a specific ?pending? status or were registered by someone else. We will inform you of the status in the next few days and, in the latter case, we will recredit your account of the sums corresponding to the taken domain name(s). You can lookup your domain names one by one on www.whois.eu
Regards,

Lee

Here's my take. Accuracy not guaranteed.

I went through this with some customers a few years back with the .info landrush, and the way it worked for that was each registry got to process x number of its applications in a round-robin way, so Dotster would submit 50, then Network Solutions, then Enom, then Register and on through the total number of accredited registrars. The circle just kept going around until everyone's preregistration or landrush queue was emptied. So if you attempted to preregister the same domain name with 10 registrars, you had a somewhat better chance of actually getting that name registered than if you only went with one registrar.

I think it's the same with .eu. EuroDNS may run the registry for EurID, but that doesn't mean they had any specific preferential rights. If they did, it would give them an unfair business advantage, and all the other registrars would have screamed.

In looking at the actual EurID WHOIS, it appears that Dotster got me almost all the domains I registered with them, and EuroDNS got about 70% of the ones I registered there. This janky offbrand registrar Instra.com/Europe Registry appears to not have gotten a single domain I submitted through them... a couple were actually still showing as "unregistered" when I checked just now, and I was able to register them at that moment with EuroDNS.

I think the reason EuroDNS says they aren't certain what's going on is that there's just so much data they want to make sure that what the actual registry operator says matches completely with their records; I don't think there's any approval issue per se; I can't imagine someone is going to go through and check 500,000+ domains to make sure the addresses are real and all.

Well,

I registered the domains through a friend of mine in Germany so all is legit. However I am extremly sorry that I lost 4 from the 5 domains I wanted to grab.

Anyway I have a few ideas of domains that I want to take and after the whole rush is gone I will take them (they a niche domains and I do not think that someone else will grab them before me).

On a side note I do not think that porn domains will have any success for .eu, just the business ones...
