Unless I can buy a boat we are fucked. (PICS)

Every year the snow melts the ri8ver floods, this year it has melted faster and rained more than normal. We have a flood alert in our village.

The house usually over looks a farmers field and a nice sedat river. Today it overlooks a raging torrent and the warning is the water will rise.

Our house is the yellow one at the back. The barrier is something set into the dyke and erected for times like this.

This is the field where the farmer should be planting his spring greens this week, more likely he should plant rice.

Not far to go and it's into the street then into the fields behind the house.

This is where he keeps his tools.

See the difference in 24 hours and it's rising.

So I might be rowing to work next week.

The serious problem is the concrete barriers they have, the latest news is they may break.

This is the page that shows the problem.

http://www.mapmaker.cz/sap/pmo/cz/index.htm

The top graph is the water, the bottom the speed. I've been told they're not sure the dyke walls will hold.

More pictures to follow.

Haha yep, a boat is the only thing that will save your ass!
Boats are cool though, my father had one and we went out on it as kids...was great fun. I'd love one.

I would sell you our boat.
But unfortunately it sank to the bottom of the med.

Figure this one out....
We sink because of bad weather conditions and no fault of our own. (Unless you count my dumb ass newf-acadie husband thinking we could sail the mediterrian in feburary!)

Well we got hit with a fine for enviroment hazzards.

Thank Heavens for insurance!

This is what we are all watching. The river has actually dropped by an inch. But still in the red.

The top graph is the water level, the bottom the speed.

By the way, I will take your flooding and raise you about 2 feet of mud, and water that runs at about 35mph.

as for me the road I live on is under construction, and will be for at least another year. But every time it rains, the water comes down from the mountains with a lot of mud, rock, and trash, and flows through the streets towards the beach. sometimes moving fast enough to move cars.

Why do I stay?? My house is 2 blocks from the ocean, and I can see the water from my office up strairs. I can hear the waves all day and night. I pay about 120 every 2 months for electricity, and the very best beef ( better than anything that you can get in the states is about 12$ a KILO. thats 2.2 pounds.

sounds beautiful. i love the beach. as far as beef goes though, i beg to differ. i own a wholesale meat company and sell to the best/most exclusive restaurants in "The OC". I sell dry-aged (3 weeks), prime, organic/all natural beef that it's tough to match. It makes Kobe beef taste like beef jerkey.

Noone beats my meat!

I can see it now, on CNN ... a rescue chopper is hovering over Paul's house ... a basket is lowered ... there is only room for ONE!

Paul throws in a plastic garbage bag full of 2257 documents, waves the pilot off ... shouts "The rest of us will take our chances"
