Please check your Equinix Contract, you will see that photography and videography are prohibited in the facility.

ICQ Nick or I and we will tell you directly our cage number. I will more than likely be down their on Monday if you want to meet up. I can give you a show of our setup.

Jim

i'm well awareof my equinix contrat i have cabinets in 3 facilities, ash-f ash-g and saccacus NJ

Oddly enough you can also put in a smart hands ticket to have pictures taken of your equipment.

Maybe i had a ticket to have pictures taken.

Honestly it ust sounds that you colo with PTP.. no big deal lots of people do. I just don't know why you don't have your own cage was it because ash-g is out of space? wait till ash-E comes online late this year early next.

why don't you post your cage? i'm cage 5000 rack 901 in ash-g. cage 1600 in ash-f not sure on the cabinet number on that one.

besides i'm 99% confident my cabinet is right next to PTP since their UNSECURE wireless AP gives me full 5 bars while i'm there free bandwidth! i should throw up a wireless bridge and start having some fun!

PTP Runs our network, we are in G and that is all I really want to say in public. I would be more than happy to disclose of our unit privately via phone or on ICQ. This isnt smoke in mirrors, its just for the safety of our clients. I also have no problem meeting you @ G anytime and showing you our fully owned server equipment.

Ashburn G isnt out of space yet. Last time I was there about 4 or 5 days ago they had plenty of unused space around our location. Instead of expanding into ashburn-E we are probably going to work in collaboration with PTP and pull a few racks down over in the Switch & Data Datacenter out in Reston, VA. We have been pricing out racks over there as well as dark fiber runs back to Equinix Ashburn-F and it all looks like a green light for us.

If you are in cage 5000 you are very close to us, if nothing else I would love to meet another GFYer face to face. Maybe we could work a deal out between our companies. I assure you our company staff is much more knowledgable about the techincal side of hosting than myself and Nick.

sadly cage 5000 is the open floor there is no real cage like in F. theres a few open areas in G but they are very close to capacity i need 3 more racks in 3-6 months and this might not be an option but int hat time BTN's datacenter next door will be open and i'll be expanding into there unless i can secure a cage in G somehow. just because there is space doesn't mean they have the power. this as the problem in F. plenty of space per say left but zero power.

If you would like, Brian and I from PTP Tech were just talking about an expansion into Switch & Data's Datacenter in Reston (approx. 6 miles from Equinix Ashburn). ATT, Cogent, Tiscali, and a few other big name's have a POP in the S&D Reston Facility. Brian will also be personally running 2 seperate dark fiber routes out to that facility from Equinix Ashburn-F. I would definately look into that and if you want I am on ICQ right now my ICQ is 333-300-283. Rack over in S&D will be considerably lower than Equinix.

10U of rack space doesnt even warrant a rack - forget about a cage.

Since you don't have a Equinix contract how in the world would you know what it does or doesn't look like?

Also, I dunno about most of people, but looking at your 10U worth of space isn't exactly exciting

Well....when you put yourself over there, as these guys have done its kind of hard not to call bullshit.

I'm done with this thread. They can say anything they want from this point forward. I will leave it to others to call them out.

I was wondering when someone would pickup on that. We have a few cages in Equinix NJ and they are way more expensive than the other Data Centers around, but the quality is worth the extra $$$ plus the video games and free coffee rock

Surprised so many people co-locate, news to me.

We have some room in LA if anyone needs colo, redundant non-Verio non-Cogent bandwidth, great prices since we have so extra space from expanding the floor soon.

http://www.dwhs.com

I think 95% of hosting companies are resellers we where in 98, atleast this company has a rack. Not sure why he is getting flamed you have to start somewhere.

ya bad move going to a reseller, if something goes down you contact them, they contact the datacenter. you could be waiting while they makeup excuses, etc. better going to the source

To answer your question about my college being a "trade school" no - it wasnt. I graduated from Suffolk Univeristy in Boston. If you read further back into the post I was homeschooled and started college @ age 16. After a few semesters at suffolk I enlisted in the Marines for a variety of personal reasons. I had -some- time to take classes between deployments there, but it was rough. No I'm not still currently enlisted, I was medically discharged due to combat related injuries. If you meet me at a show you'll notice I have a scar going down the right side of my face. Afterwards I returned to Suffolk and finished my undergrad.

Yes I'm currently in law school and doing hosting, as well as launching a program soon. Law school costs money, my house costs money, my car costs money - getting the picture?

Anyways, I'd like to thank everyone for the trolling and the page views, I've drummed up quite a bit of business because of this thread.

i'm currently sitting next to my cabinet looking at cage 5020 which tear2claims they are in. amazingly my wireless signal to PTP is mighty strong sitting here.

nothing wrong with co-locating inside another network. just be honest about it

want me to take a picture? you have a neat little blue light/device ontop of one of your cabinets which is your wireless AP. 11 cabinets total in there and a handful of LX giges going into the cage which means they backhaul from equinix ash-f like i do.

Your on PTP's network just don't deny it nothing wrong with getting bandwidth from another provider just don't know why you wouldn't go direct.

Hello Spudstr,

The WAP has WPA-PSK enabled. I'm sure you can see the SSID as it advertises it. On another note, please refrain from taking pictures of our cage. We have multiple customers that deserve privacy just like others expect. We both know Equinix has policies against pictures/cameras/etc. Please follow the rules and respect our other customer's privacy. If you have specific issues with Tear2hosting please restrict it to them. Please include our cages in F on this request as well. Thank You.

sound slike they were mainly concerned about their own welfare, not surprised they were made light of this thread, with all the attention especially directed at cage numbers and etc.... give it a break.....who starts out with full on ownership of everything, someone starts somewhere, give the fuckin service a shot, if and when something goes wrong......THEN>>>>.....then and only then (is it professional) should you come and bash.....

just seems like jealousy and competition gets the best of some people....

god dammit, on to pressing issues.....

no but it would of been great if they did. theres one tech onsite here that i can tell and he's already replaced the door on my cabinet.

jealous? not at all why would i be? i have my own network and its successful. i'm sure their clients are happy and mine are happy.

the point of this whole thing is claiming its their own stuff and its not.

Spudstr,

Actually we have other clients that read these forums. They complained when they saw you offer to take pictures of our cages in G and F.

pictures of some servers? what do the clients have their faces printed on the front of the servers? I don't get the hole privacy thing, you are looking at rack mounted computers not social security numbers. the fact is you are mad that he called it like it is.
