It makes you feel good. Not in a druggie sort of way but a general state of well being kinda way.

It's worth trying...went through a bad patch last year and my doctor recommended it. I got some from him, a higher potency formula than that available in your average health food store. I certainly believe it helped.

I use it too and it does work well.

There is one unpleasant side-effect some people get. A day or two after you start taking you start feeling pain more - the joints in my hands hurt and I get pains in other parts of my body - but after a day or so that passes and the pain of the side-effect is nothing like the 'pain' you feel when the black dog comes sniffing around.

The black dog is another name lots of people use for depression.

Winston Churchill was the first person to liken depression to a black dog - he suffered with depression for a lot of years.

Be very careful, it is known to cause liver damage when taken too much..

Read up all that you can before you just jump right into taking it daily...

I've taken it for well being and I think it does help for mild blues, but if you're in a fairly deep depression, it's not going to do the job that RX will.

Another vitamin for well being is Folic Acid. I read it mimics the serotonin uptake inhibitors. Probably worth a look up to double check that.

Good luck to you.

i've been taking a daily multi-vitamin for several months now, its weird how i can tell if i missed a day or not cuz i get so depressed and unmotovated and tired.

i bought a small bottle of St Johns Wort last night and took 2 pills in the past 14 hours (doseage is 3 pills a day). so far the only thing i've noticed was that i almost puked in the shower this morning lol (ya know, that warm-sour saliva..the pre-puke symptom lol) then it passed. umm thats about it though.

HOWEVER, i did notice that i've CLEANED MY WHOLE APARTMENT before i went to bed last night not sure what that was all about. (my place is clean as fuck 99% of the time, only took 20 mins to clean the whole place). but i dont actually FEEL any different. but im doing different things. its only been not even a day yet though. we'll see.

It's funny how it works for some people and not for others. I won't touch prescription medicine - it turns me me into a zombie - but St Johns Wart works for me even when I am way down.

It will take several days for the effects to kick in so stick with it for three or four days before you decide it's not working for you.

And if Pornwolf comes back to the thread - there's research institute here in Australia that focuses on depression - it's official title is The Black Dog Institute
