But regardless of what I like, it's going to go on every year, for several reasons ALL of which have already been mentioned ad nauseum. According to many many MANY experts there are ecological reasons to allow it to continue, albeit restricted, and it will continue to happen every year whether you cry about it or not.

You may as well deal with it.

If they kill a cow to make meat for people to eat and live ... I have no problem with that. And if after that cow has had all its meat taken from it, of course I would think they should use the skin too and do something usefull with it.

I notice none of the protestors seem to have anything to say regarding the larger ecological issue, the one where several people have pointed out that leaving the seals alone would rapidly swelll their numbers to such a degree that their fish consumption would negatively affect the fishing industry, eventually leading to massive shortages in that area of human food consumption.

By the way, speaking of fishing, those poor fish are hauled in with nets and left to die a horrible death by suffocation on the deck of fishing boats. How aweful!! Shouldn't they at least whack each fish over the head and put it out of it's misery????

Two things ...

1 - This year was so warm that a record number of baby seals drowned to death do to ice caps melting. Sometimes nature fixes itself.

2 - Catching fish and leaving them to die is inhumane too. I haven't fished in forever and if I did, I would do it for food and I wouldn't let the thing just sit there and die. We put them in water tanks untill we get home and then just chop off their head. Its quick and not torture.

I agree with cows throats being slashed .. I don't eat that. I eat kosher meat where the animal was put to sleep with an injection not a knife to the throat. Plus killing a cow with injection keeps the cows muscles from tightening up .. making the meat softer and more tender.

Bottom line the animal kingdom has always suffered and will always suffer at the expense of mankind. If animals had voices, it'd be a different ballpark. But they don't sadly.

Animal welfare people are just trying to help relieve the abuses and inhumanity in any way they can. We'll never win obviously cause people will never stop eating meat, wanting leather products, using lab animals, and every othery thing that goes on.

But one thing we will win at is making the entire planet fully aware of what goes on so people at the least can make their own decisions. And that is a huge accomplishment, because most of the atrocities have always been well hidden from the public's eyes.

Any animal doesn't like people and you must earn a level of trust with an animal. Once you do that, you are "friends".

And I didn't plop anyone on a horse. It was not my shoot and I had nothing to do with it. I went there as a friend just like I usually do when she shoots with someone new.

Just because they can't speak engish doesn't mean they can't communicate and show emotions. I have had horses that kiss you and nodge you when you are next to them just because they want your attention and like you. I have been around a lot of animals that show love and affection.
