What is your WORST TRAVEL experience?????

Mine was last year.

I was going to visit Sleazy so i had to take a one stop flight either in CA or in US before going to Winnepeg....

So last minute Air Canada fucked me and called : they cancelled my total flight. I was supposed to go from NY > TORONOT> Winnipeg.......

So they gave me other option.... I chose to layover in Ottawa........

KK get to customs and the stupid bitch asked me so many questions then sent me to immigration office....more fucking questions.... after like 15-20 min bitch let me go. I was not happy

Flying from LA to the Gold Coast in Queensland. Flight was delayed 4 hours. Didn't leave till 3am. During the first meal, the chick next to me spills red wine all over me (I'm wearing white). First trip to Sydney so didn't know the airport. Picked up my luggage, got pulled to the side 4 times for questioning cause they said I looked suspicious, ran to the wrong terminal for my transfer to Coolangatta. Had to take the subway all the way across the airport to the other terminal. Running my ass off in the terminal dead tired still covered in red wine trying to catch my connecting flight. Had to have them open the doors since they were already closed but in the end, it all worked out.

I've missed flights all over the place. I've gotta stop drinking!

My worst was in 89 when the plane I was on travelling to Germany hit severe turbulence over the English Channel. The plane never sounded right after that and we had to make an emergency landing in Brussels...was scary as shit

Got a kidney infection in Mexico, had a 104 degree fever, and was literally peeing blood. Not blood tinged, but straight up blood. I was in so much pain I couldn't stand up or walk.

Then I found out I would have to see a Mexican doctor, which would probably involve a pelvic exam, and then take Mexican drugs, dispensed by a 12 year old Mexican kid standing behind a counter, who spoke little to no English. I thought for sure I was going home in a wood box.

This past Christmas I was flying from Seattle to Houston, flight was leaving at 6am so I decided I would just stay up all night and sleep on the plane... ended up with a window seat even though I requested aisle (I have abnormally long legs), with two loud fat obnoxious women who wouldn't trade... They wouldn't shut up and I was in an awkward position so I didn't sleep the whole 4 hour flight...

Not that bad I guess, but I wasn't happy lol. Because of my height I've never really had a comfortable flight, I have to start flying 1st class.

i was on a "puddle jumper" on a short flight from Milwaukee -> Pittsburgh
the plane had some really turbulance, the engine (on my side) started to sound really fucked up like something was wrong....went on for like 10 mins. i seriously thought "this is it...this is how im gonna fuckin die..." then we landed and we saw techs come out to the plane the MINUTE we landed. so i know something was wrong, but they said it was just "turbulance".

When I was in my 20's with a bunch of friends drove down to TJ and some fuck tard federales stoppoed our car and started hassling us. They made us get out of the car and started to go through all the stuff inside and we were scared shitless they were going to try and plant drugs to bogusly haul us in. So we all pooled some cash together and gave it to them. They laughed like we were stupid gringo's, took the money and drove off.

I got pinched on the trip from San francisco to AMsterdam for having a loaded gun in my checked baggage and ended up in the custody of the US Marshalls for 14 days. It took me a year and a half to get that sorted out. I am not sure how the gun got in my bag, but the Marshalls were nice enough.

Oh, and the Customs officer stole a digital camera and a set of tools from my bag while they were searching it = fuckers. I really hate cops.

I don't even know where to start. From emergency plane landings, to sinking boats, to military police raids, to a SARS quarantine, to being pulled off a bus at gun point in the Andres mountains by guerilla, to getting tricked by a transsexual... I have lots of bad ones. Lots and lots and lots of them.

Been caught in a chinese customs raid in hong kong ( which i must confess was more exhilirating that downright terrible)

Had a flight in dubai cancelled, 18 hours in the airport with no hotel given. It's times like that when you learn where the beds > power > free food & internet are.

I would have to say the the most irritating thing, and it's far from catastrophic, but even so- left internext MI, flew to Toronto.
Seems Canadian ATMs have more strict creditcard rules - and as my card expired in the current month, nowhere would accept it, despite the fact I had used it one hour prior in the USA.

So suddenly I'm in a new country, at the airport, with access to no money at all. I eventually managed to cobble together $5US to get it exchanged to get the subway + streetcar, and walked for about an hour to find the place I was staying..

It so turns out that when, in the months prior to my departure, I had asked for the bank to arrange the expedited postage of my card when it expired, they ignored me, but when the time came, cancelled the card. Many, many calls later, I found some dozey bitch at the bank had cancelled and reactived and cancelled my card, and the card to arrive after that, and the card to arrive after that. I didn't get a working card until I was home for 4 months.

All I can say is - my epassporte card saved me - it's scary to go from having money -> nothing in an instant.

My worst was from LAX to the Philippines last year.

Had one of bags go missing, and a lot of belongings in there that took 3 months with my Home Owners Insurance to get covered.

I know its not horrible like some of these stories, so I guess I am somewhat fortunate.

12 hours in ther old Kuala Lumpur airport sucked - I cant tell you how gross that place was.

and hitting a vulture on the runway in Katmandu was bad as well - the engine burst into flames and we had to circle back and make an emergancy landing - with a full tank of fuel. You know its bad when even the trolly dollys look worried.

Landing there is pretty scarey as well - the airport is at the bottom of a cliff and they have to make a virtual nose dive of the edge to land.

when I was about 12 we were coming back from a family trip to california and we had to change planes in Chicago. They overbooked the flight and ended up bumping people off. They offered my parents four flights anywhere continental USA & caribiean if we were willing to be bumped and wait for the next flight. My parents took it (and we eventually went to Aruba on those tickets) rightfully. The next flight wasn't for 10 hours which would normally have been a bit of a pain with a 12 year old and a 10 year old.

However, it became a nightmare for me when halfway through a meal we were having at this fancy resturant in the airport I started to feel really sick. My parents thought I was playing up a bit at first but an hour or so later when I physically was too weak to move they figured there was something actually wrong with me. I spent about 8 hours of that delay litteraly passed out on the floor of the waiting area or in the bathroom being really sick. Apparently, we eventually flew home first class but I can't remember because they had to pick me up and put me on the flight because I was too weak to walk and I slept the whole way home.

I was then majorly sick for the next week or so with the doctor suggesting dysentery. We had crossed the border into Tijuana for the afternoon while we were in San Diego and even though we dranked bottled drinks and such I must have somehow gotten some water into me.

That is partially why I am going back to Chicago on my trip out to Phoenix since my only memory of the city is almost dying in the airport.

I had to fly from Tokyo to Vancouver with an Indian guy that had no concept of personal space. I'm not fussy or anything but he was crossing the imaginary boundry and was sleeping on me. A little leg touching isn't bad but this fuckin guy was cuddling. To top it all off I just wanted to read (I already watched Spiderman 2 twice on the way there and Van Helsing was out of the questiong) but the entire flight was filled with Japanese schoolgirls that were insanely loud. Being on a plane full of 5'3" pleated skirts might be someone else's idea of a good time but not mine. When I finally arrived in Vancouver the RCMP were waiting at the gate to pick up the Indian dude who was apparently trying to enter Canada illegally. We don't have the problem with illegal immigrants trying to sneak in like the US does (the only third world region near us in Montana) so it was kind of weird to see it first hand.

If anyone here is from Montana I appologize for the rip but when I thought of it it was funny. Now that I've read it it's really not. Is it OK to use 'it' twice in a row?

Oh ya I felt I should post in this thread not out of boredom but because it was there before I started my boredom post marathon and it outlasted all of my threads. Juicy sure does know how to work a board!

Travelling back from Paris last year with my five year old son and pregnant wife the day after the London Bombings. The usual 2 and a bit hour journey took about twelve hours with more police in London than people.

I dunno Juicy i've had a couple 13 hour waits, 3 or 4 hour waits in the plane before takeoff, 3 or 4 hour waits in the plane after landing... same old bs.

BUT i bet NOONE can TOP the victims of Sept. 11th 2001 as the worst travel experience.

My GF and I went from France > UK a few days after the bombings, cruised through all security no hassles. The scary part is, I had a 6" knife in my backpack (Had just been using it for meals) - but not a word was said in either security / custom screenings.

It's pretty scary what you can get through.

hah, I once passed an airport metal detector with a huge alarm clock in my pocket, and I'm not talking about some digital alarm clock, I'm talking about 100% metal old fashioned one. Well, back then there were no cellphones that you can set to wake you up in the morning, so I man had to do what a man had to do ;)

i got sent to the customs office in vancouver on my way BACK from texas. the guy asked me tons of questions and made me really uncomfortable and went through my underwear (and one very pink dildo) right in front of me. then he takes my laptop(which has tons of new site content because that's why i went to texas) and my digital camera (which still has a set of me topless on it) and goes through it in the other room for like 20 MINUTES wtf

woo good times

Turkey, I was there for 2 weeks during the university time. First week was ok, then I got some virus from their food and spent the whole second week in the hotel room. I felt so bad, I had to throw up like 10 times a day and couldnt even drink much water(not to mention food). And those idiots at the hotel didnt even allow me to buy bananas outside of the hotel and bring them to my room.

VirtuMike has the best (worst) travel stories that I've heard.

But hell, that kid travels so much that he's bound to have a few bad ones.

By any chance was it this place?

The Turks apparently still are a little behind in the concept of "hospitality" - to them I think it means literally "hospital", as in you'll wish you stayed At one instead...)

Spent 3 days sleeping in a church in some city called Gander on Newfoundland ( which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere ).

When we went to Cuba and found that Cuba's visa office in Sydney has been broken into and all visas were stolen. They thought we had stolen visas and soldiers with guns came to take us away.

That's about the worst.

once i was flying out of petropavlosk and the pilot demanded 20.00 from every non-russian passenger on the plane before he would take off (it was 80% americans/norwegians).

the first time i flew to russia, the aeroflot ticket agents let us board the flight in seattle even though our visas were not valid until the next day. they said they would fax the border guards in magadan and let them know about it. when we got there, we were held by armed border patrol guards. that was fine... but they just took turn yelling at us for hours about why we were so stupid to leave without valid visas.

That sounds very traumatic! So what did you do? How are you able to clear your side?

I'm about to top them all. I have to leave here in a few and in my carry on bag is a HUGE pink double headed dildo / dong that I am taking to Thailand for Qon. Also for him is a glass dildo and a big butt plug.

I can't wait to hit security this morning. Gonna be a glorious day.
