i was flying out of magadan in 96 and a guy walked out to the plane with a goat. the stewardess ran outside and told him he could not bring a live animal in the cabin. he pulled out a knife and cut its throat... brought it in and threw it on top of baggage by the door.
once i was flying out of petropavlosk and the pilot demanded 20.00 from every non-russian passenger on the plane before he would take off (it was 80% americans/norwegians).
the first time i flew to russia, the aeroflot ticket agents let us board the flight in seattle even though our visas were not valid until the next day. they said they would fax the border guards in magadan and let them know about it. when we got there, we were held by armed border patrol guards. that was fine... but they just took turn yelling at us for hours about why we were so stupid to leave without valid visas.
