"V For Vendetta" new Alan Moore movie...
Here's something odd. Early review says this movie is awesome. I'm gonna see it only cause Natalie Portman is in it.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,186146,00.html Yet the creator of 'V For Vendetta', Alan Moore isn't happy with the script and has disassociated himself from the project and ain't too happy with other things? http://comicbookresources.com/column...g&article=2153 I gotta see this movie. Being in comics I can sympathize with Moore with the way Hollywood can operate, yet when the book came out I got so damned bored I couldn't read it. Same with Watchmen. When I could finally force myself to slog through the series I felt let down. He's a fine writer it's just his idea of adventure and mine don't mix. However, if you wanna read a kick ass Alan Moore book, find if you can his "Killing Joke" which outlines the origin of The Joker and is one of the best Batman comics ever. Not too mention Brian Bolland's masterful artwork which is what got me to buy it. |

Ja, it's by the guys that did the 'Matrix' trilogy. I'm waiting for other reviews to come in to see if it's true or just hype. |

I have not seen anything about this yet. I really need to watch tv more, or go to the movies more.

I'm surprised you didn't enjoy Watchmen. It changed comics from what I've read about it, I enjoyed it myself, though it was a long time ago that I read it. czarina: They have it scheduled for release on March 17th I think. I like your threads Greg! ![]()

One of the Wachowsky bros is officially a woman now..
Ultraviolet looks a lot more entertaining than this V movie. Probably a lot more cheesy but at least it seems to have gun-kata! http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_p...s/ultraviolet/

This comic is my favourite of all time and I'm kinda dreading going to see it especially after reading Moore's comments. I've read the story many times and it gets more powerful each time.
Its an extremely relevent story in our modern political climate and kinda serves as a visceral and poetic endorsement of true anarchism. Hopefully with all the slick action it will turn the kids on to its real political message (or is that hoping for too much from Hollywood?). |

See, sometime in the mid 1980's, a lot of writers got into comics in order to show they could write for film. So they did these verbose tomes of politics and pseudo psychological melodrama that got so boring after a while the spirit of comics and high flying adventure got lost. Comics are a combination of art forms that present storytelling within it's format of panels and word balloons or no word balloons whatsoever. I was there. Every other week some guy would write some long ass story and beg us to illustrate it. Mind you it was the artists that drew and kept the crowds and fans but the writers who couldn't but got the props. Then when the sales went to shit faster than last night's bad dinner, the artists came in in the early 90's and pumped out great art but fucked up stories that crashed the market into near oblivion. Now for some strange reason there's been an equilibrium from some pals at Marvel who pushed til it gave to get that balance of good story and great art. Sales zooming back up. Moore's a brilliant man. Some of his work I like, some I don't. I'll support his movie though as if it does make that leap it's another comic to film success. Remember 'Sin City'? It's a Frank Miller creation. Miller was smart and lucky enough to make sure he had hands on during the film. It turned out to be a hit and very enjoyable even though it had the biggest plot hole in film history. Miller caught his vision on film that stayed true to it and success was born. It's like that with comics, you have to stand hard or Hollywood assholes will fuck your project up. I know cause I had three comics optioned for film AGAIN and these assholes couldn't do shit for shining. What happens? Either I pull the project or they run and two days later their competitors come piling through the door with bigger offers. I have a comic coming out later this year that got optioned for film and all I did was do a few sketches. Lucky for me a neighbor who is a top knotch writer/director was sitting next to me at the coffee shop and saw me drawin', we chatted, he had read a comic of mine years ago and was a fan. That's how it happens. You work, put something out and people grab for it. But you have to be careful and follow through or your project will get fucked. It can take YEARS to get from comic to film. It used to be horrible but nowadays things are picking up faster. Alan Moore has worked his ass off for years and he deserves a big hit. His other movies 'From Hell' and the rest should have been big hits. |

I saw one trailer and I'm sure whether or not Hugo Weaving was credited. All I saw in the entire trailer was him in the mask, not even one scene where he shows his face.

The New Horror Movies...Any Of Them Good?
Okay, I grew up on Alfred Hitchcock. He knew how to scare the fuck out of people. The mere mentioning of his name would get people ready to kick your ass.
I haven't seen any of the new horror movies but do they hold up to the classics? |
