Running in New York isn't much of a choice. Working in an office all day isn't much of a choice. Those aren't really choices you can easily make.

Smoking in a designated area is an easy choice smokers can make. I don't see why its so difficult. Hell, maybe it will even deter someone from smoking, saving both money and health.

There's fanatics on both sides of the coin. A simple compromise and everyone should be able to get along while still doing what they want.

No one with a right mind would deny that it's dangerous to smoke.

When you would take all the things away that are unhealthy it would be very boring. Micro wave food is bad, going to the tanning booth (see leehotti) is bad. All those pornstars doing it without a condom are taking enormous health risks.Cellphones are bad, getting to close to your laptop is bad (if you are a guy) and the list goes on and on.

I was referring to the fanatic behaviour of some people towards smokers. Breathing in a bit of smoke is the same as breathing in a bit of smog when you walk on the street. If you are eating in a restaurant and some smoker is bothering you well just ask him not to smoke, I'm sure he will put out his cigarette.

I hate smokers... they don't realize how offensive smoking is until they quit. My mom has been smoking for like 35+ years although her dad died from cancer 24 years ago. It would have been really awesome to meet my grandpa but I never got the chance to because he got cancer as a result of smoking and chewing. I hope my mom is finally quitting for good because I'd like my future kids to have a grandma.

Not only is smoking indoors offensive, but now that it has been moved outside in WA littering is a huge problem. The ground is littered with cig butts and it looks extremely trashy.

Ok as a smoker I know that cigs smell,
I know that non-smokers dont want to breath in the "toxic air",
and I know its bad for my health..

I smoke less then a 1/2 pack a day, try to smoke only a few smokes when at work and use my brake time to do so. I don't smoke in my own house or in other people's I have no problem with stepping out side or waiting until I leave to have a smoke. If I'm in someones car and they dont smoke nor do I unless they say its ok to and even then only with the window down.
Just because I have not stopped smoking does not mean that I should force a non smoker to breath the smoke in, but on the same note just because you dont smoke doesnt mean you can butch at me for smoking in the open air.

Only thing that I dont understand are the smokers that toss their cig butt's on the ground when standing next to a butt stop/place to butt it out. Well that and non-smokers that complain about smokers and then the same people smoke when they drink, smoke weed (yep its just as bad for you), or ... fuck it I'm going for a smoke... and take in some cold canadian winter air.
