What should I sell on eBay so I can make $10 000 or more per month???

thinking of giving the eBay thing a try

I don't expect you to reveal your best monemaking items, but for the peeps that used to sell on eBay, what was the stuff that used to make you money?

a lot of shit is much cheaper here than in the UK or the US

I'm thinking of items that are small, cheap (items b/n $5.00 and $30.00 are the easiest to sell)

any eeperiences, success or failure stories, please feel free to share them

old books? antiques? small china dolls? paintings?

damn, that's a good one

it all boils down to finding one small item and selling the shit out of it, there was a documentary I watched about a British guy making more than 120 000 pounds annual turnover from small china figurines

You need to get in touch with a directory of Chinese manufacturers. Research small niche products and find providers at Alibaba.com Warning: You might get tons of Chinese spam if you use your main email. Also, try to avoid MIDDLEMEN as much as you can. You'd be more competitive on ebay the closer you get to the base cost.

Digital cameras and mobile phones are top sellers on ebay as well. Even defective devices achieve very high prices.

I can sell you PC video games of a specific company (Activision) for 15$ each, and console video games for 25$ each.

They all come sealed and of course, they are all original copies.

I get them that cheap because I work for them.

Please leave me your ICQ number in that thread if you are interested.

Back in the day I use to buy closout video games cd's on a 500 spindle for 10 cents each.

It was very profitable but highly stressful arguing with people over 10 cent cd games

Well, here is a little plug... at the end of the year, when they will release the playstation 3, pre-order as amny as you can, and sell them on ebay when youll get them.

Youll make 130%+ on your investment.

There's something you're missing here. If you sell five dollars items you need to not only sell but list, track, pack and ship 2,000 items a month. Can you do that by yourself? I sell on ebay and it's great but it's not the easy lifestyle people think it is. One Cent CD guy makes a good living but if he takes off one day his whole pipeline falls apart.

As for items like new game players and phones - there are plenty of one time hot items - you have to have plenty of money up front though to invest before you sell.

My advice - start small - do you sell anything on ebay yet? Sell what you like (I sell movie collectibles) and ramp up slowly.

Hmm.. There will be so many PS3s available on ebay i doubt the price will be very good. On ebay you just need to offer stuff that everyone needs hehe.

Maybe thats why xbox 360 consoles were selling for 800-900$, when the price here for the big one was 500$?

I know because I sold 16 xbox 360s at around that price.

I don't sell nothing so starting big is totally out of the question

long story short, I have a friend in the UK that's been selling on eBay for a while, but he doesn't do that for profit, he simply sells stuff that he doesn't need any more, and buys computer parts/components because he builds PCs

he is more or less familiar with the eBay system, so I'm looking for goodies that are much cheaper here (in South Africa) that I can send to the UK so he can sell them

anything hi-tech (electronics, cellphones etc) is expensive here since nothing is manufactured locally, but since manual labour is VERY cheap I'm sure anything hand made is MUCH cheaper here than in the UK or the States

Why would you want to seel cheap items?

If your selling $5 items and have a margin of 20% (meaning $1) you'll need to take, process and ship out 10.000 orders a month.

I don't know about that unless you are very upfront about delivery time. If some dude has to make the shit before you can even get it and then ship it that might be a problem. My experience on ebay is that people want thier purchases fast. If you have to wait a week or more for some dude to carve some wood up or what ever then another week or more for delivery buyers will flip out. You might try buying a few items and listing them to test the market though. Another possible problem with the plan above is if the supplier flakes out for some reason and suddenly you have a sale but no product to deliver. That is the fast track to negative feedback which will kill you on ebay.

c'mon man, you're insulting me ;)

1. I only need 20 minutes drive to get to the market where all the masks are sold, meaning that the day I get paid for the item is the day that I'd ship the item.

2. I'll only list items that are well stocked, some of these guys that sell masks have literally thousands of them. I might not know much about eBay, but I sure know how important the good feedback is for the seller.

Serious one! Any products which originate from Africa - crafts... anything. These do nicely on ebay and are also in demand and with none of the problems of electronic crap and new versions being released. They also go for reasonable sale values and whatever product - this can be a one-off or quantity offers.

A friend just cleared what he thought was crap out of his house. The stuff was basically stuffed cadavers - animals - along with other craft stuff from Africa and India. He ended up with bids of $1400 - $1800 for the bigger items he was intending to dump in the trash. There are obviously keen collectors out there!

I'd avoid the mass consumer culture crap and concentrate on "reasonable value levels" of fairly rare items.

Buy Bakelite for nothing at thrift stores and yard sales....

You can get a nice price for it from serious collectors. I have bought pieces at the local salvation army for 50 cents that sold later on ebay at $200 for this stake carving set.

Niche markets = cash money

You'll find African masks even on the streets of New York, I'm sure you can find them in any other big city in the US or Europe, so I'll most certainly have to sell masks or items that are different or at least not that common ;)
