if they sell, I go back to that guy, buy them and ship them to the buyer, if they don't sell, then I simply pay for the eBay listing, that way I don't have to spend any money upfront !!!

I don't know about that unless you are very upfront about delivery time. If some dude has to make the shit before you can even get it and then ship it that might be a problem. My experience on ebay is that people want thier purchases fast. If you have to wait a week or more for some dude to carve some wood up or what ever then another week or more for delivery buyers will flip out. You might try buying a few items and listing them to test the market though. Another possible problem with the plan above is if the supplier flakes out for some reason and suddenly you have a sale but no product to deliver. That is the fast track to negative feedback which will kill you on ebay.
