As for items like new game players and phones - there are plenty of one time hot items - you have to have plenty of money up front though to invest before you sell.
My advice - start small - do you sell anything on ebay yet? Sell what you like (I sell movie collectibles) and ramp up slowly.

I don't sell nothing so starting big is totally out of the question
long story short, I have a friend in the UK that's been selling on eBay for a while, but he doesn't do that for profit, he simply sells stuff that he doesn't need any more, and buys computer parts/components because he builds PCs
he is more or less familiar with the eBay system, so I'm looking for goodies that are much cheaper here (in South Africa) that I can send to the UK so he can sell them
anything hi-tech (electronics, cellphones etc) is expensive here since nothing is manufactured locally, but since manual labour is VERY cheap I'm sure anything hand made is MUCH cheaper here than in the UK or the States
