that was pretty much my point.. I wanted mike to know what it felt like when you really fuck up and can be held liable for making stupid decissions... truth is, there wasnt shit on that server that wasnt backed up elshwere.. and it was of no importance if it was lost either way. You can change your boxers now mike.. im done fuking with you. peace |
I've been with Phatservers since 2001 (almost 6 years) and they are the best host you could ever ask for! Bar none!
You could sit here and tell me they fucked your grandma in the ass and it wouldn't make a shit to me, I'd still use them. Even if they were clearly in the wrong and you had solid proof (WHICH I SEE NONE IN THIS THREAD) I'd still use them and I'm sure all of their clients feel the same. They are that good. You'd have to come up with a much more worse scenario than this to hurt their reputation. No hard feelings Pimpdog, just move on to another host and be happy. |
So, this would mean the only real problem is they may have shut down the machines by power button rather than waiting on root? Which probably means the machines didn't have crap for data on them and it's fine to just flip the switch. Even more so when you are on your way down to pick the boxes up.
And damn, a steak does sound damn good, I think I will go pick us up some. |
everyone loves phatservers (evan fat people)

Im happy where I host my important stuff, which is at SI. I leave the table scraps for small hosts like phatservers.. the thread was dead several posts ago.. I wish mike a merry xmas next year, and if he happens to have a client have issues on xmas eve next year, he thinks of this thread. |
karma can be a motherfucker ...

take that to the bank.. a fat man himself speaks the truth about them! a black one at that! |

See, this is funny: you expect them to take extra care of you when you don't give a fuck about them. |

now this has to be one of the dumbest posts i have ever read on GFY |
Seems to me that both sides fucked up...
1. Epic didn't pay their bill on time. 2. Phatservers jumped the gun and pulled the plug even though they were told to leave them up until payment had been made. Ok.. So what.. Both sides show they're human and make mistakes.. Kiss and make up and go your own ways. |

Not with Epic Cash you haven't. That didn't come along until the later part of 2002. What were you doing in 2000? |
Quote:
a few failed projects before the birth of epic cash.. I really do not think that is relevant to this issue... |
I have never even heard of phatservers :upsidedow
|
seems like a misunderstanding to me. I can see how phatservers could assume you meant right away , and i can see how you assumed they would be kept up. Can't say from the observers view whether they yanked the plug or not.
|
Move along....no more Drama here folks.....pimpdogg has left the building....we all know how much you all miss him....i will bet all the horns sounded when there was actually a PD drama thread...i have seen several bandwagon jumpers come in this thread just for their moment of glory.......they never post here any other time.....

Epic Cash is huge, Epic Cash is Great, Epic Cash has one shitty exclusive site! Funny that they cannot even afford a 300 dollar hosting bill. You guys must be pushing insane bandwidth on that virtual account, seems about right! LOL

you are so amazingly fucking wrong here its not even near to being funny. |
I switched to Phatservers about half a year ago, they have been the best host I've ever used in my 8 years of online dealing. They once even replied to one of my emails within 30 seconds, it was incredible customer service. :thumbsup

It "could" lose data "could" is the keyword. As long as the machine isn't a full traffic/db machine, it isn't going to make a difference, and his machines didn't do much.. I have a unix machine in my home office, and my son flips the damn thing on and off all the time. At least 2 times a week, never hurts it. Just like flipping the switch on a windows machine it "could" do damage, but normally it doesn't. |
Ive been hosting with Phatservers for 3-4 years now.. Im constantly behind in my payments with them.. I find it hard to believe they refused you services... Its must have been lack of service due to ATTITUDE!!! :2 cents:

I have a baby virtual acct there

Sounds like its pretty clear from the logs that Phatservers thought the servers were being picked up and was getting them ready. If I was the epic cash guy, thats the way I would have read it, even if I didnt make it clear thats what I wanted. I would have read it like that and made it clear thats not what we wanted. :2 cents:
But not offereing support to a customer on Christmas eve when they have a server problem because of a small unpaid bill, is not good at all. If Epic cash where not good for the money then Phatservers should have told them to take their server else where, not offer a cut down service with no prior warning :2 cents: |
Phatservers is pretty flexible with late payments. Several months ago i was having an issue with one of my credit cards. They email you several times if you "forget" or if rebill fails.
"This is a Courtesy Notice that your invoice is not paid. After 3 notices/7 Days, your account will be suspended. Your prompt attention to this matter is appreciated. You may experience a disruption in service to your account." |

Why would he do that when he does it so much better himself? |
My credit card kept maxing out right before payment date and I got to the point of three notices one month before noticed it in my junk folder and still, never was shut down.
Just sounds to me like miscommunication. This is why it's very important for both parties in textual conversations to clearly state their intentions and/or instructions as plain as possible. Nobody is really in the worng here, just lack of detailed instructions as to how the server was to be handled/shutdown. As obvious as it sounds when shutting down equipment with hard drives, it's still best to sound like an idiot when asking for specific ways to handle the situation. Mind you, a root pass should have been obtained to shut down properly. it;s just commons ense to shut down servers properly. Just killing power to a 'nix box is like sticking your hand in a garborator(sp?) and fliping random switches on the wall above your kitchen sink, something aweful is bound to happen. |
