The thread was about how many sales a month an affiliate has to send to all programs to be considered a whale.

Gifts and shit not the point here at all, just a simple question.

takes about 20 joins/day to get wm rank 5/6 at ARS these days. That's one sponsor. Now what is the point of being a whale by sending 50 sales/day spread over 16 sponsors? You can walk around the house all day and tell yourself "I'm a whale, yeah, I'm good"? When you need someting done from a sponsor you're just the little loser that send 3 joins/day...

Agreed. As long as i get paid well i dont need Ipods and other crap. I got in with a great sponsor 5 years ago and never looked back. The only problem i ever had was when IBILL went bad and i had to wait an extra week for my money.

Whales know who they are I'd guess. Since the question is not about sales to one program, but overall to all of their sponsors.. I'd guess they're ok without comparing to others

We are only a small program with only one site to promote. We have 2 affiliates that send 150-200 signups per month, then we have maybe 200 other affiliates that send next to nothing. Man a couple more of those mini whales would do our program the world of good.

One of these 2 affilliates uses maybe 30 different programs on all his tgp's/mgps. I reckon he would be sending well over 3000 sales per month to all his sponsors. WOW...

1 sale or 500 a day, all productive affiliates should be taken care of and made to feel like the program is happy to have them.

In any case click the sig.

Did you read the thread?

Its not about taking care of affiliates its about how many sales a month you think makes an affiliate a "whale".

To you whale status is what? (not limitted to one program)

Yeah I read the thread and its such an open ended question. The variables are what you personally consider doing well, what the programs you use payout, and so much more. I think outside of all the hype many people try to have on the boards you cant pinpoint a number like 50, 500 or whatever a month is a whale. A whale cant be calculated on monthly sales but more on their ability to consistently make a number of sales, knows how to find the sponsors/niches that work for them and sale them, and what the total gross income is.

Example if your investing thousands of dollars into adwords and making tons of sales but most of the profit is spent on the advertising are you more of a whale then the guy who makes the same amount of cash but in a whole lot smaller number of sales?

Anyway my rate of living isnt classy or in need of a high income and making ten or so sales a day to program that pay 35-40 pps can keep me more then happy but at this point I am always going to be looking up at the guy who pulls in twenty or thirty a day thinking he is a whale compared to me. In turn I am sure that affiliate looks up at the guy pulling 100 sales a day and thinks he is a whale.

Gosh I am going in circles here.. so 5 a day... no 10.... no 100...shiiiiiit

i think there's a difference between a whale and a smaller program's top selling webmaster. i mean, think about it - 200 sales per month on revshare is what - $2800? that is NOT a whale.

i know some guys who do 20 a day and they aren't considered whales by the programs they promote in particular. i'd say at least 50 sales per day makes you a whale.

and if i'm wrong, there's some programs out there who owe me some bonuses, incentives and cards *LOL*

I sent a sponsor (a big one) 2 sales a day (yes, I know that's not 500 a month) for about a month and they deleted my account and paid me half, because they couldn't make their $1 trial niche sites to make more than $1.

from that day on I spread my traffic to a few sponsors, never gonna send a sponsor more than a few sales a day.

Totally sucks that one bad experience has left you feeling that way. There are plenty of sponsors that would love to have 60 steady sales a month from an affiliate. I cant understand why someone would stop steady money...

Sending 100 joins a month is worth a hand shake (this is where he will actually shake it and not just make a motion to shake and then bring it up to brush back his hair)...

Sending 500 joinds a month will get you a personally signed card for Christmas (I got mine, thanks Nasty Dollars)...

Sending 1000 joins will get you about $2.50 to $5 more per signup and a free BJ from a toothless hooker in Vegas. But you will have to hit them up for this because they still might not remember you.

Sending about 1500 is a good threshold for just about any big sponsor and they will take notice of you... But you mentioned something about a limo or some shit or I just forgot... but anyways... If you make $2,000 a day from just one sponsor, why the fuck do you care about a free limo ride? At this rate of pay you already should own a limo company....

Sending 2500 joins means you are Boneprone for life, see him at the next show and get the shit kicked out of you so that you can flash BP4L signs at people without getting shot for being a poser...

Yep, it seems to be true though. Just checked the stats. We're ranked 16 and don't send that much to them.

Lately, I'm sending 200 to 700 joins a month (to a few different programs combined) depending on the SERPs. I'm gonna tape this post to the fridge for inspiration. :food-smil

I average about 450 sales a month.. I wish there were threads like this one 3 years ago... So much info is available to the newbie now'a'days that I wonder how the fuck you can manage to make less than $4000 a month in this business. (addressing newbs in general, not INever).

The size of the sponsor is a huge part of it. One solo girl site I was promoting and do a few sales per day everyday I found out I was her top affilate but other sponsors where I have sent over 500 jions in a month I was just in there top ten.

We're in the porn biz and you want an xmas card? Lightspeed sent cards to everyone that is an affiliate. Steve made a gesture with that...

Other sponsors that sent out cards to this nobody affiliate include PussyCash and WebCamCash. Think that speaks more to the people involved in those programs than anything else. I recall Spread4U being hand signed by the staff.

A sponsor really needs all the affiliates they can get even if they only send one or two conversions a month. Like someone said earlier " one at 2000 affiliates" works just fine. Todays 2 a month is tomorrows 10-15 or who knows??

For a start, most whales aren't "normal" affiliates. True whales make unbeleivable sales doing things you will never even think of trying. And they aren't about to tell you how to do it either.

Secondly, most whales aren't interested in prizes or rewards. They are making so much they don't need to. They would happily accept $5 extra per sale but mostly they don't giveafuck. I think most of the prizes and incentives are aimed at the smaller webbies who think they have a chance of acheiving something.

Thirdly, someone give me a PSP!

Ultimately, it's all relative. It depends on how much the other webmasters in the program make, how well the program converts, and how many other webmasters are out there. The best programs are the ones that provide ENHANCED VALUE to volume producers WHILE giving the same quality of support to smaller producers as larger producers. When I say ENHANCED VALUE I mean enhanced payouts, special payment arrangements, supercustomized materials, etc. Quality support should be maintained regardless of size, however. Quality support means: 24/7 assistance, promotion support, webmaster tools support, payment / payout customer service, traffic assesment, content strategy, etc etc.

A whale is relative to each program.

There can only be a few whales in each program, else it won't be a whale anymore - just an average top affiliate.

A whale could be the #10 account gross revenue multiplied with 3.
Or rather the average of top 10-15 times 3.
There should be 50 active webmasters before this rule apply.

I don't run a program, so could some of the program owners verify or decline this theory?
