Kudos to all that stepped up its very touching and I agree to pay to see big advertisements is nuts. The biggest pro video show which is also in vegas and to go costs nothing, thats why sponsors buy booths.

If there was such policy they would also honor it via internet registration and onsite registration also. Specially since for some people the available attendant may change or be unknown until nearly the last minute and as you know pre-registered badges are non transferable and must match the persons ID.

Thats why I always register at the show too, never quite sure who I'm taking with.

The reason I don't go to the vegas shows anymore is because walking REALLY takes it out of me, and it's like 1 mile to get from your room to the desk, and 5 miles to get to the convention floor. Real pain in the ass (and legs). This thread really brought up some concerns of mine for the future. If I really start going south, I'm gonna hit ya up for some shooting tips while being chair bound. Glad some folks stepped up with some extra tickets for ya.

Oh do not bring up that damn hallway please. I try to forget it exists until I see it. I decided to let my balls over ride my brain last year and went down to the floor on my own from my room. I said to meet me down there in a few hours. Well I shit you not, I had just litterally gotten past the gates after about an hour and a half or so and my person showed up in about 5 minutes. It litterally took me close to two hours to get from the room to the badge check. Oh I will never ever do that again.

Yes I have several times over the course of several years.
Again I really do not want this turning into another reason to bash AVN though.

He has said at least 3 times he personally has contacted AVN and they turned him down. Furthermore, he isn't even "hating" on AVN, OTHER people are.

I ain't bitchin' too loud since my legs are still mostly working, but yeah I hear ya completely. Vegas is just too damn big. By the time I make it to the floor once and back to my room I'm spent for the rest of the trip. After that it's just pain and exhustation.... and most likely an MS attack. Just like I wish webmasters would dump ICQ as IM of choice, I wish they'd dump Vegas as convention of choice. Santa Monica, Phoenix, ect. ect..... much nicer shows for people with physical problems.

Do you get free extra ticket for the other Adult conventions and gatherings?

Without constant growth I could not imagine trying to cover the costs I have that are always rising.

ON the norm .. that is the same reason i go to 5 shows a year ... but this particular show this year .. I'm not really feeling .. it's going to be a cluster fuck and I get way more contacts and biz done at the smaller shows .... but i look forward to meeting you there :thumbsup

I have not tried to attend many others. In all honesty I find travel to be a big pain in the ass so I really limit it when I can. As it stands I typically drive to Vegas which is like a 14 hour drive (assuming limited stops and traffic). I ussually drive since flying is a pain in the damn ass. I have so much crap that I MUST bring that it makes it a logistical nightmare and lost baggage becomes a super big time issue. So often that means I must fly and also ship stuff via fed ex or UPS to make sure I have everything I need when I am at a show.

Example was the second time I went to Vegas I flew. Airline "lost" my wheelchair (ended up back east), and they also "lost" my box of medical supplies. I ended up with one of those chrome 600 pound wheelchairs as a rental and needed to get ahold of my doctor to fax me some prescriptions for medical items that I needed to purchase in Vegas. Most of that trip was spent fixing the problems getting there caused.

No other Adult gathering registration page even has a handicapped box.
http://www.snowgathering.com/register.html
http://adultcon.com/indexa.html
http://www.originalglbtexpo.com/attendee.php

Do any of the other Adult Industry gatherings even bother?
Probably not. I not found one yet and was actually surprised on Internext registration there is one.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 12-16-2005 04:14 PM

I honestly think with a little dialog with AVN it would be worked out on the basis that they do infact have a box there on the form and a text field area and a email contact to communicate.

Now I understand maybe ya did communicate with em. I dunno what was said.

But I hardly can understand that the result would be with them saying no.
Maybe I am wrong.

But thats my :2 cents:

It's always nice to see that box, but it rarely works like it should and somehow gets lost in the shuffle. I've never been on a flight where I didn't have to wait for them to get the 'isle chair' even though I requested it with that handy little box. I've also had to spend the night in an airport because they somehow forgot to add the hand controls on my rental vehicle and because the one mechanic who knew how to do it was already off work. They refused to get me a shuttle to the hotel since it was 2 hours away and wouldn't pay for a closer hotel so I spent the night on the fucking airport bench and waited for the mechanic to arrive the next day.
AlienQ, things always look simpler and easier on the outside than they actually are.

Hustler Jim, Webair Mike... Class act guys... Fucking love guys like you. Hell I ain't even going to Vegas but was about to post that i was ready to donate some cash for there passes. This is Pathetic but for some reason I am not Surprised.

Now while you guys enjoy the Clusterfuck of the vegas show Me, Sleazy and a bunch of webmaster friends will be sipping some nice cold pina colada on the beach in Dominican Republic.

Y'all have a nice weekend and again Kudos to Hustler Jim and Webair Mike ;-)

Aly 12-16-2005 04:24 PM

RIGHT ON Hustler, Webair, AdultChamber and Cyberage for stepping up! :thumbsup

Sorry I missed the start of this thread, I was on a plane to Vegas.

If anyone else is in a similar position for Internext, Rick and the rest of us at The Best Porn are more than happy to throw a badge your way... Just let me know soon!

...and giving a badge to a seeing-eye dog would really be perfect of course...! :winkwink:

Sorry we won't be seeing you there, Sly. Too damn bad.

Looking forward to the show... See the rest of you soon! :thumbsup :thumbsup

That is very true. Specially the car rental one, or like they install the hand controlls but forget the steering knob and so on.
I also had it happen to many times when booking a hotel. You click the handicapped room box, you leave a comment in the special needs box. You go to check in and walla you got a regular room with a shower you can not use.

Internext-Renee 12-16-2005 04:28 PM

When attendees register online there is a field marked with a handicap sign that reads 'If you are disabled and require special services please provide the details in the space provided'. All attendees with special needs or requests are encouraged to fill in this area and show management will take care of them. If there is any technical difficulty with the form or anyone has questions - please contact me directly at
renee at avn.com
Additionally, if anyone has issues on show-site please ask for me at the registration area.

Now Renee please make sure this remains a policy and those that answer emails at AVN know this, specially for on site registration (reasons above in the thread).

I hope the rules change and people pushing wheelchairs get in free.

That way I can add it to one of my tips in getting people in free to Internext.

See sig.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 12-16-2005 04:42 PM

Make that a lesson for all shows for that matter.

AVN was the first to put Handicap fields and informaiton on there registration pages and have been doing so for years appearently while no other has.

I think someone had an agenda here.

On the form it does have a Handicapped box and reads:

"If you are disabled and require special services, please provide the details here."

Was that ever explored AfterShock?

I think someone had an agenda here.

I just had started to like you again and then you go and do this.
Now please point out the agenda. I made the initial post in a contest thread about why I deserved one as per the contest rules. Baddog had issue with it and decided to make the thread questioning AVN.

So I am guessing the Agenda would of been that braincash decided to assist in making AVN look bad by giving away 25 passes they bought, then it was my turn to post why I deserved one that would bring in some pity and hate from some gfy readers, and thus baddog stepped up and quoted what I wrote in a new thread asking AVN, and thus several of us wheelchair bound people would all go in together to attempt to give AVN a black eye publically. Knowing full well they did have an options box on their site.
Then of course we need to make sure several people would offer up passes so that they could look good to everyone else and assist in the thread growing.

thats what i do.

RING RING

"yo, farley, this is dj airek"

"yo man, whats up"

"hey farley, can i get extra hot chicks to walk me around the convention?"

"for you man, you got it!"

"yo, thanks farley! you're on it man!'

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

in all seriousness, farley has always gone out of his way for me and i thank him for that. for someone at the highest level to contact an individual advertiser to make experiences turn out right is appreciated.

i wish i was going to internext, i'm just not gonna pay abhorent expenses because of the supply and demand in vegas that week. 600+ dollars a day for a hotel room that i will only see for 2 hours a day, not likely.

next year i hope that something can be done to not have this show during the circus that is CES. please listen to us farley, i'm pretty upset that i can't go.

:thumbsup

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 12-16-2005 05:04 PM

Well, appearently AVN has had that field form box on there registration process for some time, several years infact.

Thats alot more effort than any other trade show or event.
I understand alot of webmasters are hating on AVN these days. I really do, and I understand some of the reasons.

AVN been around so long they are becomming the Christ on the cross.

Not even I have been one of AVN's biggest supporters in the past, infact I was one of thier first critics and was bashed for it hand over fist. But times are different now with a whole new set of agenda's and angles from many in the biz.

I can see that they put in the effort and do there part for the business in news, articles writings and publishings for many of our industry and the video side. I have come to recognise the emense responsibility they have.

I am just slow on the matter, maybe not informed but I do know that as of late they have been very generous to me behind the scenes, I have had alot of dialog with some of there folks as of late. They work just like we do and seldomly get everything perfect.

Regarding the Handicap issue, they are the only ones I have seen that even put in an effort above any other gathering or industry event.

On a larger scale many companies relie on AVN for the publishing of video companies and industry news. They sit in a precarious position that is easy to attack and it could not be easier to describe than to say it like it is.

"You can not please everyone."
And being a long poster here on GFY, that is the truth.

You can not please everyone thats the bottom line, ya always will have your haters.
Thats just the way it is.

Aftershock this thread proved the haters and the local bandwagon as of late that has found that XBIZ is the "New Angel" for our information and news. I say hardly would that be the case, all industries need trade publications and news and I would urge webmasters to realise that before drawing a line in black and white in the sand.

I am one of those that still preferes AVN Online to Xbiz.
Then like I said I did not want AVN to get much flak on this issue. AVN as a trade show has plenty of its own issues that are more pressing. I still love the AVN show in Vegas and it still is my primary show. I know there can always be problems and situations. Emails get lost, wrong answers get pushed out, and so on. There is a lot of stuff that goes into a show and I understood this from the get go.

WTF are you talking about?

ASM I think you would get more out of Phoenix than Vegas for future reference. It would be easier for you to get around and meet people. Probably cheaper, too.
