im not chinese dumbass.... since you making fun of the guy who is buying supra, i expected this from you. Obviously you don't know much about cars....since the only thing you do is generalize. VR4, for your info, was created by mitsubishi to compete with cars like NSX....which I hardly would consider to be "rice". get your facts straight before you open your canadian mouth. Hell, do canadians even know anything about cars? the majority of your police department still gets around on horses what do you drive? Since your canadian, i have some guesses, but ill let you elaborate first. so what do you drive?

I drove a Mitsubishi once for a few months...
It was the WORST car I have ever driven in my life! The brand overall is crap. Besides 320hp in a $10k car is a scary thought LOL I mean obviously they had to make some serious comprimises to the rest of the car... ![]() |

I believe the psychologists view automobiles as, paradoxically and simultaneously, woman AND penis surrogates.

Don't Buy it.
Please .. Save yourself a headache. it may be listed as 320 hp. alot of it is lost to the wheels. and they are expensive to repair, you will need alot of repairs |

Poor man's Ferrari ????? DON'T MAKE ME PUKE !!!
more like a 240SX with a shitty body kit There has not been a piece of Jap scrap yet that even comes close to competing with European cars ... Although I must admit my '88 CRX Si was quite the little "rocket" in it's day ... One of my favorite cars .... and I have owned prolly 3 times as many different cars than most .... I get BORED easily

wow, a few people saying mitsubishi's suck? ive never owned one, so i'de like to hear some more opinions on people who have owned them.
now, as far as the 10k price tag, i should mention this is for a 95 vr4 with 80k miles.....and i can only get it at that price because my dad is a car dealer and can get me the car at dealers cost. normally i'de be paying 12-14k for the same car. anyways, im fascinated with speed, and this is the best bang for the buck as far as speed goes, for now. college student currently, i'll be able to afford a much better car in a a year and a half, but for now, 10k is all i can spend. any other suggestions for 10-12k. keep in mind, speed and looks is what im looking for mainly, not luxory, and I live in the U.S.

If you MUST buy Jap scrap ... I 100% agree ... Honda is the way to go .... but if you are open to suggestions .... A dancer friend of mine just bought a KICKASS "Baby Bimmer" (1994 320i) for 9K Canadian ... so in the US you should be able to get one for maybe $7500 USD??

actually, ive owned a beemer before (old one, 1986 325 es) and ive owned a honda civic (1997 ex)
loved the beemer, but paid up the ass for repairs and insurance(going 90 on highway, had timing belt break, got new engine put in, $2000 total...i was 18 when i got it, paid $150 a month for insurance)....then, a year later, the head gasket burnt out, about $1000 more in repairs....anyways, it was sort of old car(but it still looked great) ive had the civic for 2 months......its a decent car, but there is too many civics where i live, and frankly, 140 HP does not excite me very much, and neither does being thought of as a "ricer" gonna look into a beemer actually.....their great cars for sure....but im just really into the vr4. I must say though, seeing some of the comments about mitsubishi is making me think twice about getting one now.

m0rph3us, as i posted above, ide be paying 10k on a 1995 with 80k miles....and 10k is dealers cost, so getting it for very cheap
the last one they made was in 1999 i believe, and that one retailed at 26,000 brand new, back in 99. Ive done a bit of research, and believe me, were not talking about neons here.....a stock 95 does a quarter mile in 13.8 sec, and this is with 3800 pounds in total weight! A 2001 NSX which retails above 50 grand easily does the quarter mile in 13.6 seconds! only thing that im worried about now is just the brand mitsubishi....seeing how everyone here is saying ide be paying alot for repairs....As i said before, ive never owned one, and havent known anyone who has owned it, so don't know how reliable the brand is.

Meta, anybody thats owned a 3000GT VR4 knows that these fucks don't know what they are talking about.
Here's the shit. I've owned both a Dodge Stealth R/T and a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 (same car, different styling) and both were awesome rides. Push button suspension, fast as hell, very comfortable to drive, awesome climate controls, and beautiful to look at (did I say it was FAST AS HELL!!!!) Mine was 300HP but wasn't as heavy as the 320HP model, they are very heavy cars. Ok that was the bright side. Here's the downside. Tires. 18" wheels, if you are hard on them, you'll be buying a new set every year. Back when I had mine, I had to buy them through mail order in the magazines, you might find better local deals now since 18" aren't as rare as they used to be. Gas. 3000GT was VERY picky about gas, I mean certain premiums would totally screw it up. Chevron's California mix made the damn thing hiccup like a drunk. Engine. Mine had 50,000 miles on it when the engine started clicking and valves/lifters had to be replaced. About $2k a the dealer. Transmission. This is what killed my car. At 70,000 my transmission started making grinding noises, at 75,000 the dealer told me it had to be replaced. Sealed transmission unit, total cost with labor $8,000. I did some investigating, this seems to be a weakness especially in the earlier 3000's, mine was a '91. I couldn't see throwing that much more money into the car so I had to let it go. I loved my 3000GT VR4 more than I would love a good woman, but sent it off to pasture and have been driving a Beemer ever since. Nz |

ok, since you've actually owned one, let me ask you this. Would you recommend me buying a 95 VR4 with 80k miles on it? Is 80k miles on a VR4 equivlent to 130k miles on a civic lets say? Currently, I dont have alot of money for repairs, and frankly will not have any till 1 and a half years from now, when i graduate. I wanna buy a fast car now, use it like a cheap whore for 1.5-2 years, not put much into it as far as repairs, and then sell it and buy something much faster and better when i graduate. Would a VR4 with that many miles be a good idea u think?

hey Meta, you only live once. If you want a kickass ride and wanna pick up fine asian chicks, get the VR4, it worked for me.
But remember, at 80k you are seeing it at the end of its first life cycle....and the repairs are coming. Can you get 2 years out of it without spending the money necessary to keep that baby humming? My opinion is no. I drove mine really hard though, your mileage may vary. Nz |

Tommy Bookmarks had/has a 3000GT, I think he just got rid of it. That fucking car was fast, looked nice, and was real comfortable. He was flying on the highway, and we didn't even notice the speed. Car handles pretty nice, too. Cornered well, and didn't beat the shit out of your kidneys like a Vette can do.
But all in all, I'd say buy a used Mustang, and pimp it out. New rear gears, suspension kit, brake kit - fuck, you can dump a fresh motor in the bitch, too - and still be saving money. Stangs are a lot of fun to drive, and they sound nice. |

all my friends drag race, its fun shit.... im thinking beemers arent made to be drag raced. if so, ide have to go with the VR4, or find new friends kuwa, yeah, if i go with beemer, ill definetly get a 94-96.....looks like i could afford that price range alright, i guess its between a beemer or a vr4 hmmm.........fuck, i never thought it be so hard trying to decide on how to spend 10 grand maybe i should just keep my shitty civic and spend the 10k on stickers. im sure pipecrew would like that 8)

even if your friends smoke you, just tell them you drive a BMW. drag racing and any kind of racing in general will kill your car, but I know you will drag it anyways, I did it in my 355 on the road and on the dragstrip, I know it's stupid and it's not my kind of racing but I really had fun
and most likely you guys will be do more cruising than dragging. If I were to purchase a used BMW, I would buy it from a car dealership that offers some kind of warranty. If you don't have alittle extra money to spare I don't recommend you buying BMWs, again it's very glitchy, lots of electronics and can cause alot of problems. |

Hey congrats on the choice.
Ive had one of those cars till December when I was racing some dude one night and he slipped almost crashed into me I tried to avoid him and I ended up hitting 2 trees doing 100 mph. God knows that the only thing that I can thank for being able to type now is the CAR. Honestly Ive never seen a car stand such a hit without breaking apart. That explains why the car is so heavy 1700 kgs. I am sure that if I was riding in another car I would probably be dead by now. Anyway the car is completely crashed and I mean COMPLETELY. However I will get a new one in like 10 days or so and I am sooo happy. The car is awesome it drives like wonder and it is very powerfull. Just wait and listen the sound of the 2 turbos spooling up at 2000 rpm you'll know what I am talking about. As soon as you get the car post some pics of it in this thread. I will do the same with my ex car (before the crash and after the crash). Regards! |

Even with the M3 and M5 it would be a very close race if you start from a stop since you got AWD and they are RWD. I tell you the 3000GT is excellent for drag racing cause of the AWD. I used to race it every night and the only car that totally beat the shit of me was a Lamborghini Diablo. All the BMWs and Mercedeses Ive raced were beaten. |

Gotta agree with Hungryman , BMW is the way to go, I have had
3 and I have loved them all. Can't beat the quality and ride but look around, there a lot around, don't get the car from someone "young", most likely it has been roasted. But I would throw in a couple of grand extra and go for a newer model as Kuwawawah suggested. ![]()

Hell yeah TeenFlood!
To the guy thinking about buying the VR4... If you decide to buy just make sure you have money in the bank to afford some costly repairs. Or a least decide to baby that drivetrain. Those 320 hps don't go easy on a heavy 4wd car. I might pull a few high rev launches but sooner or later you'd be pushing it off the road. You could get lucky and get one that hasn't had much abuse but not likely. Yeah It could end up being a decient car for under 10k but just be careful. First GFY Post! Woohoo... And Yes I'm already fucking myself Later |

meta, vr4's are damn nice cars........but;) they are ment to be toys taken out on the weekend. no doubt you can drive them daily, but you will pay for the pleasure eventualy.
i'd suggest driving a 94-97 Camaro Z28. those years are in your price range. for the $ you get 285hp + awsome handleing and ride. but more important, durability...if you dont dog it. (however they can take some punishment;) mod's are cheaper than a mitsu and 400 hp can be achieved quite cheaply (1-2k doing it right) ive owned several f bodys and they are the most liveable sports car you can buy in that price range. and trust me, you'll smoke a vr4, ive done it many times) as far as BMW's wait till you get out of college, doing burnout's in a bimmer are just uncivilized;) |
