even if your friends smoke you, just tell them you drive a BMW. drag racing and any kind of racing in general will kill your car, but I know you will drag it anyways, I did it in my 355 on the road and on the dragstrip, I know it's stupid and it's not my kind of racing but I really had fun
and most likely you guys will be do more cruising than dragging. If I were to purchase a used BMW, I would buy it from a car dealership that offers some kind of warranty. If you don't have alittle extra money to spare I don't recommend you buying BMWs, again it's very glitchy, lots of electronics and can cause alot of problems.
