no dimmer . . . what makes the kinos and the biax expensive is the dimmer that does not lose color temp as you go up or down. if you don't want that go to home depot and grab a bunch of lite, day lite blanced (55K more or less) abd put them around. . . that's really fucking cheap $200-300 . . .

The http://www.flolight.com/ lights are switchable for 2, 4, 6 lamp operation..... kinda like a dimmer.... and I don't need anything fanicer then that for video. The VX2100 is a workhorse.

Those have a lower CRI rating than Kino Flo. Colors won't be as "true". But you could just buy the fixtures and then buy Kio Flo Bulbs if you want.

I have 2 Kino 4 bank selects and 2 smaller sized parabeams. They make the video look amazing and the colors in my video look great.

Best bank of the buck in Kinos are the foto flo 400s.

As far as a light meter goes, this is a essential part of your setup and cannot do without it, you need to make sure you have a perfect 8.0 on your lighting (at least thats what we strive for) lower and your pics are dark, higher and they get blown out. It doesnt have to be a expensive one but you need to have it.
Do you feel the Dynas are very consistent on color temp and light output? I have been renting the Dyas and the Profotos to see which one I liked best.

Seemed to me the Dynas worked as well as the Profoto and are much much less expensive.

Tat2Jr.......

Pick up a set of Pocket Wizards to set off the strobes then grab one of these. Donovan turned me onto this unit and I love it.

Hey Aaron! Pocket wizard looks cooool.

I am finding my sync cord is annoyingly inconsistent.

We use the self timer alot and was wondering if you can remotely trigger the camera and flash? It sounds like it from the site, but my photography vocabulary ain't so hot.
