Program owners- What is your policy on double dipping?

How do you deal with double dipping affiliates?
Regular affiliate guys seem to know better,(thanks!) but I'm finding larger review & link sites trying to collect the webmaster referral on themselves by signing up twice. Are they deceitful, greedy or just unorganized? How do you put a stop to it without risking losing a large affiliate?

I would send them a letter of contact to make them aware that there appears to be an error of some type. Advise them that it appears someone didn't notice that they already had an account. give them their account info and advise if there is any discrepency in their webmaster referal numbers this could be the cause and to feel free to contact you @ ???-???-???? if they have any additional questions.

Well thats just bogus and basically cheating I'd say. I've advised affiliates that getting a second account is ok if you really need one, just DONT click on a referral link, especially your own.

we usually nix the referral account. We don't take 10% off their sales, we ask that they don't take 10% off of ours.

We've had this happen before, and of course it's not on purpose on our end. Usually this will happen with programs that use CCBill since sometimes you can't tell what program you're signing up for exactly. It's also pretty common on programs that have brought in other individual sites, since we think we have to sign up for their new program (when in reality they're now just part of a program that we already list, and we just didn't realize it). We get emails daily asking us to switch aff codes, sign up for their new program, go back to our old codes, etc. Other times, it's just an honest mistake with someone on our end glossing over the fact that we're already an affiliate there.

I think a simple email explaining it works fine, or else provide some way not to sign up twice inadvertantly (based on SS#, EIN, ESP, blood type, whatever).
