emmm just that you can recover *some lost highlights and shadow areas with it. More exposure control in post with raw. I use it only when doing print. It's cool though to have the RAW option!

I always shoot Raw and 16bit
It produces 140 meg images but the quality is out of this world. Way too much for websites but who knows what you will use images for in the future ?
With Photoshop CS2 you can make an image look as good as film with a depth that makes images pop ! Sure it takes up huge amounts of space but with hard drives coming down in price its worth the cost and time involved. |

oh, if you take the 16 bit tiff to a fuji frontier minilab it will usually choke, I've had to make two trips before, just to downsample to 8bit.

Felix, are you going to start shooting all your material in raw or are you just shooting something specifically for a printed piece?
Just curious |

well, i wanted some pics to do some large poster, and all my pics were taken with the 10d highest jpeg setting (6.2mp cmos) so i shot a few stuff in RAW today, but not sure if i got anything worthy enough of printing now i'm pissed, cause it would have been really nice to have RAW copies of all my old stuff so, i'm debating whether i should get a couple of 2gig or 4gig CF cards and start shooting in RAW+Jpeg from here on out |

I would shoot in raw.. it's amazing what you can do in post. You can basically stop thinking about lighting and mood while shooting and just concentrate on the actual subject. I love it!

I always shoot at around 3megs.. which is good enough for medium size posters.. i would do a shoot with the posters in mind.. rather than shoot for the site.. and then try to get posters.. out of them.. only cuz that way u can be i bit pickier with the shots..

We tested them a while back and compared quality. If shooting just for web its a waste of time IMO.

I shot RAW the last two days - much more time to process but the control and quality is the trade off - nice - I always shoot raw and jpeg for my stuff

I always shoot raw, thinking about future use. But it definitely slows the camera processing down a bit...
