Spending 1k on a nokia isnt wasting money tho: these things last you 2-3 years at least so thats less than 30 per month on the best phone you can get your hands on!

I often times forget you are young ( not a slam) and things like the coolest phone at the mall mean something to you and the people you hang around with. while I still think you wasted 1k I understand why you did it.
I appreciate your honesty and logic in your posts.

I have grown up with my father being in the business salvage cars.
he knows garagists that can fix up a car 99.9% and will look and feel exactly like a brand new car.

my entire life, I have been driven around and have driven my fathers salvage cars. and nobody that sits in them can tell the difference between those and non-salvage ones, because the salvage job is so well done.

think about this, I bought the M3 for 42 000$CAD and can easily sell it for 50 000$CAD, that means that i can easily drive it for 2 years and break even at the end.

who in the right mind would not do that?

my friend just leased a brand new 330CiCM, and he is paying 36 000 for 3 years. after 3 years, he has no car and threw away 36 000$. as for me, after 3 years, I don't lost a penny except for the money I spent on insurance.

or I can simply sell right now for 8000$ profit. but hey, the Nissan will bring me 5000$ itself and I can do this with a bunch of other cars, keeping the m3 for myself.

good for you then, it's obvious that you are making money yourself.

but if you are going to criticize me buying a 1000$ phone, let me ask you. what is the point of buying 3 "high end" cars that lose 10% of their value every year?

If that thing about the cars is the true motive then more power to you.

I doubt you save 90% of your profits.. that requires discipline and based on the stuff i _see on the boards about you_ (im aware that doesnt mean shit)
i dont think you have that YET. But i could be wrong i dont know you.
If its true i hope you are making enough money to 'retire' in a few years.

Let me tell you something real stupid only an idiot like myself can think up:

If you make 200-300k per year and save some of that you end up with
a decent amount of cash on the bank but nothing that will last you forever.

With enough cash in the bank and your current income stream drying out eventually theres not much motivation to conquer the next era.

Medium cash is a curse and shit will hit the fan. Even with multiple income streams.

We dont have a boss so (the lack of) money is our motivation unless you have
the discipline of ghandi.

I believe you spoke about "rich dad poor dad" and the only interesting
thing he wrote that i liked was "theres a difference between poor and broke people".
If you are 'rich' you are better of broke than left with some decent savings.

Dont be affraid to take risks with your money and spend it.
If you spend it with a chance on returns even better.

But dont end up with your 'cashcow trick' running dry and only enough money in the bank to support your lifestyle for lets say 3-5 years because
then you are fucked! Brains die.

Think big and you are right; nothing wrong with cool toys and clothes and living it, i try to do it every day.

Well, the Jaguar I my toy.. It has heats up my ass during winter, it has a smooth drive.. sure beats Corolla. Rover is my ride to walmart to get TP and go camping. VW is a hobby.
What about the phone cult? Does you phone make faster calls than mine? I know.. I know.. it has lights and plays JLo?s song as ring tone? But mine make phone calls just as good as yours.. Isn?t it what its for?

I will assume your m3 is a 2003, you are dreaming if you think you will get 40 to 50k for that car in 2 years.. Keep in mind we are almost in 2006.

A) You should research what happens to cars when the new model comes out, do some research and see when the Next M3 comes out, devaluing yours even more.

B) You can get a 2004 M3, no flood damage, less miles, 19" rims/sport package for around that price now.. and in 2 years ago you will have lost 10k, bump this thread then if you dont believe me. You will not get over 40 on your salvaged m3 in two years.

it does not make faster calls than yours, it does however have more features and a better look.

your cars, same thing. a car is a car, gets you from point A to point B

I paid 900$ more to get a better looking phone with better features
you paid 100k$ more to get better looking cars with better features

I never said that pipecrew, I said that I could either sell it NOW for 50K, or break even at 42k in 2 years.

sorry if I made it confusing

oh and the new convertible 3 series will be comming out in 2007.

my father and his friends have been in this business for decades, I trust their advice and appraisals.

every single person that saw the car said that it would fly out of our hands for 50k.

if ever I do decide to sell it right away, I will let you know exactly how much it got sold for

oh and pipecrew, maybe I am overpricing it at 42k in 2 years, since our repairs cost 2000$ more than expected.

so perhaps 40k in 2 years, and I would have driven a M3 for 2 years to only have lost 2000$

or maybe drive it 1 year and sell for smaller profit

I've dropped close to that on a phone. 2 Blackberry's in one year at $400 a pop. Hell 4 years ago I even spent my college book money ($600) on the Nextel i95cl before anybody else got it. And that phone is a complete piece of shit by today's standards.

Nice phone...wouldn't work for me. I need PUSH E-MAIL. Thank God RIM is going to start lending their capabilities to other providers.

You'll end up fucking it up sooner or later. I recently ran over a phone I paid a fuckload for. The good thing about it though, is only the front lcd cracked... so I didnt swap out yet.

Lesson learned.

living with your parents if you were saving a down payment for your first house could be rationalized but frivolous expenditures like a $1000 cell phone seems a bit ridiculous when it could get you a just fine apartment right there..

my entire life, I have been driven around and have driven my fathers salvage cars. and nobody that sits in them can tell the difference between those and non-salvage ones, because the salvage job is so well done.

think about this, I bought the M3 for 42 000$CAD and can easily sell it for 50 000$CAD, that means that i can easily drive it for 2 years and break even at the end.

who in the right mind would not do that?

my friend just leased a brand new 330CiCM, and he is paying 36 000 for 3 years. after 3 years, he has no car and threw away 36 000$. as for me, after 3 years, I don't lost a penny except for the money I spent on insurance.

or I can simply sell right now for 8000$ profit. but hey, the Nissan will bring me 5000$ itself and I can do this with a bunch of other cars, keeping the m3 for myself.
i like you man, so don't take it too seriously ;) but dude, there's no way you will sell m3 for 50k even right now with salvaged title... people who drop that much cash usually check background of the car, if it's salvaged nobody will buy it off you I GARANTEE... it might happen if you will say nothing, and they won't check, but it will take long time until you find a sucker... even buying it for 42k is a rip off, do you know german cars ? their electrical stuff isn't that good, and a car being flooded with salvaged title will keep racking up repair bills... also new v8 m3 coming very soon that will kill price alittle too... if you think you going to make $ off it forget about it

anybody whos owned a nokia phone will undestand how good they are and reliable. But the phone above rocks. I remember a first generation of that phone sold around $800 and that was 3-5 years ago.

For that price I would have gotten the Motorola MPX 300 Windows Smartphone.

That's the hottest shit ever.

remember, I am talking about 50k$ CAD here, not 50k$ US

would that make the difference for you to agree with me? or still not?

Personally, I prefer my Treo 650. Does much more than that overpriced thing you showed at the top of the thread.

RS-MEDIA you own a truck? then you know what a grand is worth with gas prices lately...a month's gas max... the phone is a far better investment therefore if you pay the case for it clean it up every one in a while and take good care of it it will last. but thats not my point. I mean anybody that at some point in his life lived in an apartment lost (+ or - ) a grand a month . besides, i would not take advice from someone who owns a VW BUG as for the rest of the haters, it tells a lot about your income .. therefore whats the point of saving money if youre never gonna spend it? your wives must be pretty bored and probably cheating on yall too the kid says he saves 90% of his income, and he lives with his parents so its plausible. i believe bdjuf is nonetheless a little feminine, but is a promising young kid with his mind on his money

p.s. i DID get paid for the above message lol

$1k for that? so not worth it. it's just a cell phone. you can buy an good pda for $700 and have your office in your left pocket and spend $300 on your new prada shoes
