The nokia 8800, I wasnt sure if it would be worth the 1000$ I paid for it, but damn, is this the best fucking phone I have ever used, or laid eyes on in my entire life.

The really sad thing about that phone, is that in 3 months it will be 600, and 3 months after that 300, and then 150. Why waste the money. you will just put it in your purse and lose it anyway.

nokia phones have a tendance to keeping their value for at least 1 or 2 years, I guarantee you that you wont find this phone for less than 800$ 6 months from now.

and i simply love it, I have been looking for a new phone for months now, the other model I wanted to buy was the nokia 7610, for 400$.

I love this one 10 times more so why not pay twice as much for it?

also, its something I will keep for a good 3 years (if I dont lose or break it). something I will love and something that will also, yes, impress others

However, he has expressed interest in puchasing an automobile. He has purchased one or two was it? Both totaled and in the process of being rebuilt. Why?? because he was looking to spend his money wisely.

1k on a phone is not the act of someone spending his money wisely. It's the "small" 1k purchases that add up and suddenly the idea of purchasing a car that was wrapped around a tree or driven into a lake seems like a reasonable way to cut corners and save a buck.

so it's an investment more than anything

the phone, you are absolutely right that its a "small" 1k$ expense that isint an investment at all.

I save up so much of my money, and usually spend it wisely enough
but sometimes I just feel like going "crazy" and spending 1000$ at a mall, or 1000$ on a phone, or 500$ on a gps system that I pretty much need to get around

there is no way that I could buy most of the things that I would like to have as an "investment". this is one of the cases that I will never see that 1000$ again, and I obviously considered that fact when I bought the phone.

also, I need a new phone. most of the phones on the market today are garbage and I would have gone for a nokia that is at least 300-400$ on ebay...

As a person who has a background that screams your auto purchases are a horrible idea. ( but thats a different post, and different story all together) I'd rather see you sell them both for profit take the money you have earned and purchase something that won't have a salvage/rebuilt title that is safe, but to each his own.

I often times forget you are young ( not a slam) and things like the coolest phone at the mall mean something to you and the people you hang around with. while I still think you wasted 1k I understand why you did it.
