I am really not surprised by all the looting and everything in NO. The city is one of the poorest in the nation and it is crazy without a hurricane. I spent a week there a few years back and I was in several situations where I thought I was going to get mugged by a pack of people. There's a lot of cool stuff to do and see there, but man the crime is extreme.

The police have no communications, no working patrol cars, not enough boats. They can't function either. They need to get the military in there now. This is "worse" than 9/11 from what I'm hearing. Thousands are probably already dead and it's going to get worse. Massive rebuilding needs to be done. The scope of this tragedy will take time, it is unfair to say that the government does not give a fuck, we have never experienced something like this. I would hate having the job as president, Rep or Dem because this situation is just fucking beyond imagination.

More money should have been spent preventing it a long time ago, but it wasn't. There should have been more resources for more rapid response.
