Which JETSKI should I buy ?

I have come to the point in my life where I need to buy a Jetski. To be honest I really have no clue about them. I do not know what brand or what size. I guess I would be using it for island hopping and for pulling a wake boarder.

What brand ?

What size ?

I would suggest a boat over a ski, especially if you want to tow stuff or island hop. But you know your needs better than anyone else. If you wanna pull something, get at least a 1300. A 1500 will let you take 3 people or tow a board. I've always been happy with Kawasaki as far as power and reliablility.

Check out the STX -15F. 1498cc and holds 16 gallons. It's about 10k. I'd rent a couple to which one you'd want. Let us know what ya get.

You mean to say PWC "Personal Water Craft" not jetski. A jetski is a standup made by Kawasaki.

I reccomend the Seadoo RXP. Is hands down the fastest PWC you can buy.

Ok so I guess a 1500 would be the least I should look for to tow a wake boarder. I would be interested in buying rather than renting....... unless you have a long lease.

If you want to tow a wakreboarder.. legaly you need a 3seater PWC. Seadoo RXT would be your best bet. 1500cc supercharged! 215hp.

By law you also need a spotter on the PWC at all times.

Your theory is flawed because a Kawasaki standup ski is also classified as a PWC.

I was suggesting you rent one or better yet, borrow a friends to see if it is something you would really want. A jetski in the open ocean could be a little scary. It may convince you to get a boat instead

Actually the original question was flawed: which JETSKI should he buy? Standup or sitdown? What brand?

The word Jetski was being used way way before there were ever any sitdowns skis. The closest thing to a sitdown was a Kawasaki XP (i think that's the name). It was like half/half.

then after that the waverunners came out and allowed anybody to ride. Hence why they are boring compared to a stand up.

In 1974, Kawasaki introduced the Jetski, a revolutionary jet-propelled, single-person watercraft capable of speeds up to 40 mph. Based on the concept of a motorized waterski, the original Jetski required the rider to stand and use considerable strength and balance for control. It was not until 1986, when Yamaha introduced the Waverunner, a more manageable sit-down version, that "personal watercraft" gained widespread appeal. Within ten years, it blossomed into a $300 million a year industry with annual sales over 200,000 in the United States alone, and led to the creation of two competitive Jetski racing circuits. But in the late 1990s, increased complaints about safety, fuel emissions, and noise resulted in a public backlash. Several states enforced mandatory driver's education and minimum age restrictions, and some areas, including Lake Tahoe, the San Juan Islands, and the majority of the National Parks, banned the craft outright. Industry experts agreed that the continued popularity of personal watercraft would depend on improved driver education and cleaner, quieter engines.

This was the last stand up I had before I grew out of it. I wrecked it into a dock fucking around. The dock won.

Also new for ?95 was the 750 SXi, a stand-up JET SKI watercraft with a powerful twin-cylinder engine, a 3-bladed stainless steel impeller and a long-life aluminium water muffler. This upgraded version of the 750SX was the first stand-up model with dual carburettors.

750 SXi (JS750-B)
