A 1500 will let you take 3 people or tow a board. I've always been happy with Kawasaki as far as power and reliablility.

Check out the STX -15F. 1498cc and holds 16 gallons. It's about 10k. I'd rent a couple to which one you'd want. Let us know what ya get.
