Content shooters, how long does it take for you to shoot a set and video?

I know this is like asking how long is a pice of string so I'll be more specific.

Teen, medium quality, 20 minutes video and 120 images with a new model.

Solo girl.

Lesbian with 3 models.

Hardcore boy girl.

For me solo will take take an hour. This is 20 minutes for the set, 20 minutes to change the lights, redress the model, take a break for a tea and cigeratte and 20 minutes for the video.

Lesbian it depends on the models, but usually around 80 minutes, takes twice as long to get the poses on the set right.

Hard core boy girl will take 90 minutes or more. Sometimes up to 3 hours if I'm shooting for a magazine, they demand certain set ups, shots and finishes that have to be right. Time consuming.

But if you're shooting something amateur, got a good boy it can be done in a lot less time.

I'm not in a race to produce the set in the fastest time, just want to produce something I'm pleased with.

Content producers chip in please.

I would say most decent shooters are around the same time.

Amazes me how so many boast how fast they can do it. As if the speed of shooting will impress a potential buyer. Would turn most people off buying them.

How often do you encounter limp dick syndrome when shooting B/G?

Dunno much re times to shoot porn, but regarding your first question:
"how long is a pice of string?" the answer is
Exactly twice as long as it is from the middle to one end...
hope that helps

With the discovery of Viagra very rarely.

But it still happens if you use amateur boys, they get so scared even Viagra does not work. I will only do BG with professional boys or boyfriends when he looks good and can perform.

Some content buyers ask me to work with boys who will do it for free or cheap to save THEM money, I reckon why should I make my life hard to save them money?

I'd say for the type of stuff you are shooting, layouts, and customer aspect, all your times are spot on. Shooting for someone else, you need to make sure everything's right on specs. Sounds like you have a good system for what you are shooting, and getting quality output.

Sounds about right to me as well but it really depends on the quality your going for and if your doing spec that require special setups or location problems. I can usually get a good 120 with a new model on location in about 30 minutes barring any interuption.

I film mostly reality style hardcore b/g and g/g videos (incl. posed and action pics) and scenes for my DVD lines and it routinely takes me two or three good hours to film an outdoor pickup scene or scenario with dialog plus 30-40 minute sex scene. Sometimes more, depending on the complexity of the scenario (eg, three or more people, costumes, makeup etc).

Pretty much the same although it really depends on the setup....
I.E. an outdoor scene or scenes you need to get there etc...shooting on location the same time consuming problem....

As for hardcore it depends a LOT on the stud as well, not all are dependable, but if you stick with the best your fine

Shooting this stinkfillers.com is somewhat more time consuming though...yes even in the studio, though we are using the studio less and less these days.

I use to get 1 hour of solo-girl video (three 20 minute scenes with outfit/set changes) done in 2 hours when I was just shooting in progressive mode, and grabbing video grabs as my pictures.

I just bought the Nikon D70 about a month ago, so now I'm shooting real photos too..... and it's taking an hour now for a single 20 minute video/photo scene, but I'm only getting around 60 photos right now. That will speed up the more comfortable I get using a still camera, and once I get a real battery pack for my SB800 flash so I can shoot non-stop.

Every day I'm getting more comfortable knowing what a pic is going to look like on the computer when I shoot it, but still photography ain't nothing like videography. It's so strange to be at the beginner skill levels of this (photos) when I was easily in the prosumer skill levels with video.... but I'm up for the challenge!

Right now I'm just using my 3200° video hot lights, and geling my flash with the tungsun gel. Then setting the white balance to tungsun. In the Nikon capture program I drop the temp down to 2650° on the raw files before pulling them up in photoshop. That seems to keep a real nice warmth, but white looks white. I need to get rid of those damn hot lights and gets some fluorescents. For solo stuff the heat was never a problem, but now I'm in the desert, and the air conditioner can't fight off those lights too.

here are my times:

solo is 45 mins, sometimes 30 mins

g/g is about 60-90 mins (more if we need to clean up the puke and/or piss)

b/g is about 90-120 mins depending on what's going on

i'm shooting almost 100% reality style g/g now. it is simulated reality to be sure, but i try to make it look real. shooting b/g is just too much work for me.

and it takes me roughly twice as long as you guys. but i don't just set the lights and shoot machine gun style and hope i get something good.

i frame each shot carefully before i snap, and don't snap unless it looks interesting in the LCD, and then bracket to make sure i've got a perfect exposure on key shots. and i position the girls carefully to hide flaws or add color accent, or puff up the tits with forearms, or get the nipples perky, or turn a head to hide pimples, etc. i find taking the time shooting this way miminizes post production work, so you have a much higher shooting ratio and less throwaway shots. even the most beautiful girls have many flaws you must shoot around, or camouflage with limited DOF.

we use a plant sprayer to moist the girls foreheads and labia to show "heat".

normally i use a girl assistant amd we work pretty fast, but all sets include multiple outfits, multiple lingerie, multiple lens changes, multiple light setups, etc.

and i'm usually working very closein with ultra-wide zooms to get weird angles and this takes more time.

I have an even better question:

What is the longest a girl has been locked inside the bathroom while giving herself an enema before an anal scene?

This week I think I broke the record with 40 minutes

i know it is easier to shoot stills with hotlights, and many pros do it because of consistant exposure, and you must use hotlights with video so this is the quick solution when you try to knock out stills and vid in one shoot.

but if you photograph a girl's eyes with hotlights you lose the sexy look because the pupils close down.

it is MUCH better to shoot porn in a dimly lit set with strobes if you are showing a girl's eyes.

much sexier look because the pupils are wide open.

Solo girl (toy), video + pics, if she is new, aroung 90 mins, if she has some experience, 60 mins, maybe ecen couple mins less...

Lesbo 3some (video+pics), between 90 and 150 mins, yes I know it sounds fuc*ing too long, but actually it tales only around 70 mins of shooting, everything other is makeup correction after video (for photos)...

Boy/girl classic sex scene... hmm... more or less, the same as lesbo 3some...
I don't use "amateur" male models, so in 99% of situation I don't have problems with male model "productivity"

Thank you for the tip! That makes so much sense, but I never thought about it. For right now I'm just working on getting consistant, as auto as possible, acceptable photos. I've thought about the strobes, but with my setup now it would add too much cost/time to the shoots.... but in the next few months you never know what kinda bug I'm gonna get up my ass. I'll probably have the whole setup, knowing me! lol I love this game!

Here is what I'm getting with the setup I explained above. If anyone wants to rip it apart for me, go for it. Is it too warm? Need to sharpen it? Need to just put down the camera and walk away? I know it's not pro or anything, but I do think it's acceptable.... but then again, what do I know... I used video grabs for 8 years! Thanks in advance!

Yes I was talking about the medium quality we shoot. I know when I shoot a good girl fro a good magazine I'm looking at an hour + to do the set, but then the rewards are high as is the competition.

But on castings we shoot READERS WIVES, for the magazines. Flash oon camera, no real preperation and rattle them off. Still take 10 minutes to shoot 20 positions and 50 shots clothed to naked. Or did you guys think those pictures are all supplied by amateurs sending in pictures of their girlfriends?

Buy yourself a set of studio flash lights. Tungsten is wrong for stills work, low light, high heat and pupils effect will give you problems.

Studio lights can be bought for $1500 and it's money well spent. Expect them to last for 500 sets, that's $3 a set.

You're shooting amateur so the most important thing is the quality of the relationship between you and the model.

The picture needs to be viewable and believable that the model is doing this for the fun of it, even if she was paid.

I would say the only complaint is the color, too much red. This can be better corrected in the camera setting of the better cameras, not sure about the Nikon D70.

Buy a single studio flash light and an umbrella, use some white reflectors, white sheets will do sometimes and see the difference.

But you have the model enjoying herself and showing her body at you for the fun of it. Priceless and something few "Amateur" shooters have a clue about.

Do you think the publishing houses are going to rely on something sent in by a guy who reads porn magazines? Reality check time.

They pay us $50 a pictures for that stuff and rest easy. Worth every penny to them.

Another dream shattered.

Well maybe 10 minutes is a bit fast, sometimes 15, the point is to make them look like the boyfriend shot them and they are meant to look amateurish.

Flash on camera and lots of movemnet is the key.
