What's the best way transfer a PowerPoint presentation to a video file?

I have a Power Point presentation that is on a CD. It's basically a slide show, but I need to transfer it to a DVD or VHS tape to play on a television when no computer is present. What's the best way to do that?

There is an option on Power Point to record to a camera, but I get a Windows Media Encoder error when doing it. I have WME on my computer, but something isn't working for me.

(Assuming power point accepts it) the error you are receiving is due to the fact that your computer doesn't have the appropriate codecs for encoding. Check out www.free-codecs.com and just play around find one that works for you. Good luck! And if you still can't find anything that works, try download.com and use a keyword such as "powerpoint to avi". Goodluck!

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

Worked perfect, thanks. I found a program that did exactly what I needed.

Don't think that I didn't contemplate that, though.

You can import the ppt file to Windows Movie Maker and the the result is a wmv.
I've tried this before and so far the result was fine. Good luck.

I've already accomplished what I needed, but just tried what you mentioned... it didn't work.

I get this error:
The file C:\Documents and Settings\Windows XP\Desktop\presentation.ppt is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.
