Has any song/band changed you or the way you think and if so how?

Pink Floyd; allowed me to accomplish both physical and business goals I would have given up on or lost interest in.

Thanks, Floyd.

Actually, when I think about it there are a myriad of songs that have changed my thinking, the way I love and the way I live.
Some songs I would be embarrassed to list on here.

How about you ???

Before I opened thread I was thinking Floyd LOL

On the other hand I would say 2pac has made me a different person. Makaveli and the later releases are very deep stuff

No, but Dimebag Darrell getting killed made me start appreciating the bands I truly love now and not take them for granted.

Bob Marley: WAR

Until the philosophy which holds one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there is no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be pursued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

Nope.

I guess, one poet kinda tickled my curiosity, and his name is Jello Biafra, but that did not last long.

The lyricist MUST practice what they preach; otherwise, their words are mere fodder!

Phish.

Nothing quite so enlightening as intricately complex, highly advanced music accompanied by utter lyrical nonsense.

Grateful Dead.

Frank Zappa.

Back in the day Prince songs did a lot. And most of the songs that I am talking about were never released.

demented, did you hack into my computer and copy pasted my playlist?!?!

also, everyone who appreciates good lyrics has to check out Death Cab for Cutie and Phantom Planet.
as a matter of fact those lyrics helped me get into poetry.

I spend most of my free time trying to find a chick who will wake up late, put on her clothes, and take her credit card to the liquor store.

Tupac with bold letters. Not sure how I managed that but without doing anything I have to go through major shits once in a while. I'm adapting Tupac's way of facing life. It's like codeine people get to avoid pain....

several albums changed my life - hot rats by frank zappa, trout mask replica by captain beefheart, ladies of the canyon by joni mitchell, leon russell by leon russell and let it bleed by the stones.

no matter how much i love listening to the ramones, korn, system of a down, etc, nothing has formed me like those four albums above - and i guess that pretty much gives away my age ;)
