AVN is sucking on webmasters for every penny... time for Lensman to stept up with WA

Nice cut they are making on thoses hotel rooms down there ...

http://www.venetian.com/

DATES: Jan. 05, 2006 thru Jan. 09, 2006

Venetian Luxury Suite View-1 king bed
Total: $2,876.00

Venezia Bella Suite-2 queen beds
Total: $3,036.00

Venezia Bella Suite View-2 queen beds
Total: $3,316.00

Venetian Rialto Suite-2 queen beds
Total: $3,196.00

Venezia Concierge Luxury Suite-1 king bed
Total: $4,996.00

Venezia Concierge Bella Suite-2 queen beds
Total: $4,996.00

Venezia Concierge Palazzo Suite-1 king bed
Total: $5,276.00

In addition, they are already making a whole lot of money from booths and they'll probably charge an insane price for webmasters to get in. I say it's the time they get a fucking kick in the butt.

Those aren't the prices if you register through Rosetours. They don't make anything off the prices you're listing because that's registering directly through the hotel - they make it off the lower Rosetours prices ;)

It's only a matter of time before the industry steps up to the plate and says FU AVN for your ridiculous price gauging.

Is a ticket going to be $400 USD?

Like I said in another thread.. AVN is pricing it's self right out of the pocket books for the average affiliates. They seem to only want to cater to the program owners.. Well who do the program owners want to cater too? Other programs or affiliates?

Affiliate programs should ask themselves this question. Do you send your staff to Internext to talk to other affiliate programs or do you send them to try and pull in new affiliates?

It's unbelievable the amount of money programs and webmasters invest in these things. If I went it wouldn't be to the show floor, I'd just hang out where everyone is afterwards and do biz that way.

Lens should throw a show to directly compete with AVN. But he supports AVN, does not make sense to me. What has AVN done for this biz?

I say that Ron Cadwell and CCBill should put on more events too. The Phoenix Forum is my favorite show by far! Those CCBill folks know how to put on an event and they are certainly not in it for the $$.

Oh and Peaches is correct, do not book using the code for AVN - prices are a lot cheaper if you book through Rosetours, who in the fuck cares if you are on the same block? Chances are you wouldn't be anyway....from all my experiences we've all be scattered throughout the hotels!

posting this again from last year.

AVN is overly confident that they hold this market..so there's no reason to make changes. AVN knows you'll follow whatever they decide...and they're right...everyone has.

What I simply don't understand is why someone like Lensman, Epoch, CCbill, (hint hint) doesn't see the massive opportunity for a new show in Vegas to replace internext...and simply take over the Vegas show.

Put the new show a week or two after CES and everyone will register to this new show instead of internext. Do it right for a change. Easier said then done obviously, but certainly NOT at all impossible when you gather a few of the bigger players and pull together all their marketing power and resources.

Venezia Concierge Palazzo Suite-1 king bed

20% less than the most expensive hotel in the world. I would rather have sponsor give the money to a charity or feed a couple of unlucky families and have a drink in an average bar instead.

boycott Venetian

Isn't Internext and the AVN show the same thing next Jan in Vegas? That would mean they need a way bigger room block on those dates than normally, thus the Venetian is a lot more full than usually, thus it is more expensive when booking through them. Why do you guys not wait until it is OFFICIALLY announced when and where it is EXACTLY and prices from AVN are shown?!

Webmaster access are good small gatherings ... but from what I understand ... the size isn't close to Internext right ? that's what I meant by that

Do another show in vegas ... at the same time as internext ... and MASSIVELY advertise it everywhere a long time before to make sure everybody knows ;)

You just hit on the boldest point of the thread.

That Vegas slot is tough to fill from a capital and resource point of view. You also have to get people to drop going to the show (don't believe all the post you read).

The latter is the toughest part. It is also the most ironic.

Kind of answers itself in a way

Call Jeannie at Rose Tours - 215-533-5700. Regular suites are $279 a night. They also negotiated prices with neighboring hotels.

You owe me. Remember this and I'll hit you all up for traffic or hosting or content sometime in the future.

We can make it anytime in January-
Working out the dates now- but looks like we have secured the artist this time well in advance-

D$ will be making a MAJOR announcement soon.

The point of our conferences are that they remain small and more regional. They are meant to be what they are. We are not trying to put together a show that have thousands of people and a huge show floor.

We have been doing the GFY warm up parties for going on 5 years now. They have always been the exact same way. Meant as a place for people to get together in a smaller environment and be able to network without all the glitz and glam. We don't have DJ's or band or loud music at out parties for that exact reason.

Our focus is the same for our conferences. We aim for smaller and more networking based shows that keep you informed on the standard issues of the industry with some great partying to go along with it.

This is the same reason why I think Phoenix forum has been so successful over the years and is still one of my favorite shows.

KB has a good idea.. What sucks is all the companies & webmasters are still going to attend AVN, nothing will change that. AVN is in it for the money, two shows back to back, more booth space, more ad slots, more money for everyone to spend.

If you really want to put a gathering on after AVN then it needs to be blasted out, advertised, etc.. All within the next 2 weeks.. Otherwise people are going to start buying rooms for AVN.

Agreed . Montreal was awesome for networking ... BUT there is a need for somebody to take over AVN's business ... and I don't see many people that could throw that off.

As I said before, those high rates are the Venetian's direct rates - NOT the rates through AVN/Rosetours. $279 is the rate on an email I received today from Rosetours about the show

Depends on what avn provides, I've always liked them.. Maybe some price options for lower income affiliates are needed; but thats never stopped them from coming.

That said more shows give me more options so woot!

The main problem as far as hotel pricing is the CES show being held at the same time. Finding a cheap hotel outside the rates AVN has is going to be tricky at best. I know crappy rooms the Luxor were going for over $300 a night last year on the one night Internext and CES intertwined.

I find that very hard to believe.
But as of now, yes..nothing can change that as the show is to close for change.

But, if Lensman, Epoch and CCbill got together, posted a thread that said, " We're doing it our way...2 weeks after CES..new internext show now called, 'insert name' " people would signup to that in a heartbeart and not attend avn internext. There would be no reason to. The only people that would still attend avn internext are the tourists.

Those three companies alone with all their marketing power combined, can take this show away all to easy. They can own the biggest adult internet show of the year. And that alone is some serious serious advertising/branding power.

Granted they would have to post and make the annoucement in the middle of the year to let everyone know at least 6 months in advanced.

Damn, you're right. I just checked Harrahs and its $300 every night that week. When I stayed there in 2004 I paid like $70 a night.

20% less than the most expensive hotel in the world. I would rather have sponsor give the money to a charity or feed a couple of unlucky families and have a drink in an average bar instead.

boycott Venetian
You can say that again, this passed the "unreal" tag long time ago...gezzz

I got the same email this morning for Venetian and the neighboring hotel and can confirm the dates are the 5th through the 7th for Internext and 5th through the 8th for AVN. The rooms (normal king suite at Venetian) is still $279 for all nights (used to be a little cheaper the days before the video show started.)

Yes that sounds good to me. At least a much and much better date then the one after New Years day Not waiting 30 minutes for a cab. Not sitting in a cab for 45 minutes instead of the normal 10 minutes ride. Not paying 10 times more for your hotel room then the normal price. And being able to get a room without making a reservation. Ahh that would be great !

Uhh well this part doesn't sound goog at all to me. You already gave me one before: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...&highlight=vip

The other thing I really would like to see changed and why I'm not going to Vegas anymore is that I have to stay in a fucking line for hours. Even if you think you have the best passes you can ever get. I prefer to pay my own drinks and stay with some cool people than to stay in those fucking lines with 3 million newbies
