Our focus is the same for our conferences. We aim for smaller and more networking based shows that keep you informed on the standard issues of the industry with some great partying to go along with it. :thumbsup

This is the same reason why I think Phoenix forum has been so successful over the years and is still one of my favorite shows.

Agreed . Montreal was awesome for networking ... BUT there is a need for somebody to take over AVN's business ... and I don't see many people that could throw that off.

As I said before, those high rates are the Venetian's direct rates - NOT the rates through AVN/Rosetours. $279 is the rate on an email I received today from Rosetours about the show :)

Radik 08-01-2005 11:28 AM

Depends on what avn provides, I've always liked them.. Maybe some price options for lower income affiliates are needed; but thats never stopped them from coming.

That said more shows give me more options so woot!

Peaches 08-01-2005 11:32 AM

The main problem as far as hotel pricing is the CES show being held at the same time. Finding a cheap hotel outside the rates AVN has is going to be tricky at best. I know crappy rooms the Luxor were going for over $300 a night last year on the one night Internext and CES intertwined.

I find that very hard to believe.
But as of now, yes..nothing can change that as the show is to close for change.

But, if Lensman, Epoch and CCbill got together, posted a thread that said, " We're doing it our way...2 weeks after CES..new internext show now called, 'insert name' " people would signup to that in a heartbeart and not attend avn internext. There would be no reason to. The only people that would still attend avn internext are the tourists.

Those three companies alone with all their marketing power combined, can take this show away all to easy. They can own the biggest adult internet show of the year. And that alone is some serious serious advertising/branding power.

Granted they would have to post and make the annoucement in the middle of the year to let everyone know at least 6 months in advanced.

Damn, you're right. I just checked Harrahs and its $300 every night that week. When I stayed there in 2004 I paid like $70 a night.

20% less than the most expensive hotel in the world. I would rather have sponsor give the money to a charity or feed a couple of unlucky families and have a drink in an average bar instead.

boycott Venetian

You can say that again, this passed the "unreal" tag long time ago...gezzz :Oh crap

Linkster 08-01-2005 12:30 PM

I got the same email this morning for Venetian and the neighboring hotel and can confirm the dates are the 5th through the 7th for Internext and 5th through the 8th for AVN. The rooms (normal king suite at Venetian) is still $279 for all nights (used to be a little cheaper the days before the video show started.)

Yes that sounds good to me. At least a much and much better date then the one after New Years day  Not waiting 30 minutes for a cab. Not sitting in a cab for 45 minutes instead of the normal 10 minutes ride. Not paying 10 times more for your hotel room then the normal price. And being able to get a room without making a reservation. Ahh that would be great !

Can someone of the players here explain this to a goofy webmaster...

Why do we have to meet at the same time as CES??? Two, or three weeks later the standard Venetian suite costs $149 :thumbsup

:)

Now you are on the right train, and the right track my friend...

I have been asking this same question for 6 years.

Oh good god. I realise this is a little out of character for me but with all due respect, some of you are a little retarded at times. :upsidedow

It has ALWAYS been the case that when booking for January Internext, you book through Rose Tours, as they hold the block of rooms for Internext. Instead of paying $50,000 per night, you pay around $280 or so.

Here: Rose Tours, at (800) 666-0696 or e-mail [email protected], tell Jeannie I sent you... I'VE been booking my rooms through her for six years!

I completely agree, it's going to be indescribably crowded. I hate crowds. Then again, I'm not too fond of Vegas either.... LOL... Good times! :winkwink:

Rose Tours is owned by AVN's President Paul Fishbein's best friend Hal - right Aly?

I am sure he doesn't kick back AVN anything for the rooms he books there either....

bahahahahaha

I do like Hal though.

1 post Aly I promise :winkwink:

Why did AVN Choose to put the show on during the same time as CES. CES is Las Vegas largest tradeshow and people are correct that taxi lines will be 1hr if you are lucky. It is not to late to make it the Week After CES?

If you can explain why the change at least we will understand what AVN was thinking by changing the format after 6 years?

Thanks Ron. To be very honest, I don't like it very much myself. My understanding is that it's a reflection of the industry converging, and all that jazz... but I'm really not here to BS you, so I'll have to give you a better answer after Florida when I track down the show management again (they're mid-transit right now). I understand a value in having the entire industry together at once, but the logistics etc are going to be crazy.... and I really do have a big problem with crowds. That said... perhaps we'll all find a few more biz opps in such a large crowd. For those who like to do both shows... at least your length of stay/ room costs will be a little less...!

i dont see how costs will be less with the three shows on at the same time everything in las vegas will be at premium prices and rooms will be a nightmare to find at a decent rate for normal punters

here is a little hint

if you don't worry about fancy shit like I do...there is a hotel DIRECTLY in front of the venetian, Gold something or other, that has rooms for like $50 a night...and their parking lot backs into the front door of the Venetian...takes like 3 minutes to walk there

i forget the name, but we have stayed there twice now, and always walked in and got rooms, never needed reservations.....it is a typical motel6 style place...

Rose Tours, at (800) 666-0696 or e-mail [email protected]

Rooms are around $280 per night.

Or do like JaceXXX and find a different hotel. :winkwink:

Frank The Tank 08-01-2005 03:05 PM

yeah ive heard about that hotel and im sure theres a million places to stay but honestly if they pushed it forward 1 week there wouldnt be any issues - i like to stay in nice places - im travelling far enough and sure i can write some of it off as taxes but thats hardly the point .. if i wanted to go to ces id go a week early and go to that show .. i dont want too - im not in the technology mainstream gadgets and whatever else theyre showing business - im in the adult industry .. so adult shows are what i want to go too - more specifically the adult webmaster shows - not the surfer ones like avn is ..

Thats why im going to florida because i know that the show is the quieter of the two and im looking forward to staying IN the hotel where the show is on and having all the seminars - events - parties and people on my doorstop to make full use of my trip and do as much business as i can

You hit that one on the head! I gave up on Players Balls about 3 years ago. It's the same story every year, and always with an excuse afterward that "it was the hotel's fault... not ours!"
I ended up going to the one in Vegas 2005 only because that's where most of my friends and coworkers were going, and there wasn't much else going on at the time. I got in quickly because of the influence of a friend, but after 10 minutes I ended up leaving to find someplace I could sit, hear, and buy a beer for less than $12. Like I've always said, I've got no problem paying for my own drinks, but I do have a problem paying 3 times the normal price just for the hype of the "Players Ball".
I much prefer smaller, more familiar suite parties.
