Yes, and there are a few.

Please don't ask for legal advice. for any lawyer or person who has been to law school knows not to provide legal couseling on a public forum.

What was the hardest first-year course?

What was the most interesting course?

Was the study load as bad I as hear it is?

When graduated, were you prepared to take the Bar exam and practice law?

What do you need to know that they don't teach you?

And anything else that would be useful to a person considering law school.

1. Legal Methods

2. Torts

3. Yes every bit as difficult. But I'd imagine any professional grad study courses would be difficult. And the "style" of the school experience doens't make them any easier.

4. Yes/No I would suggest you do some intensive preperation and study for a few months.

5. Intern , Intern, Intern

6. Take as many english and literary courses you can. you will find this to be among the best possible preperation you can afford yourself.

OK now your turn to answer my questions.

I have a lot of respect for anyone that can go through law school. I have read some of the logics q's on the Law School Admissions Test and they are no fucken joke!! This is one example

-------------------------------

1. Bob did not eat a cream pie

2. Neither Hank nor Nancy's husband ate banana cream pie.

3. The three couples at table number one were Phil and his wife; Fran and her husband; and the man who had cherry cream pie
and his wife. At table number two were Dave and his wife, who is not Bonnie; and Kathleen and her husband. who did not eat apple pie.

4. Larry sat between Darla's husband (who did not eat a cream pie) and Hank.

The wives names are : Bonnie, Darla, Fran, Kathleen, Nancy

Husbands are: Bob, Dave, Hank, Larry, Phil

Types of pies are :
apple, banana cream, bluebery, cherry cream and peach cream

------------------

WTF?

And I have read some sample q's on law school exams on the net and those things are atrocious.

Just thinking about those type of q's make my head spin. You have to have very good reasoning and analytical skills to be a lawyer. If I had the brains I would go for it. But unfortunately I don't. I was researching law school and it what it was like in case I would ever want to do it one day, but it's just too difficult from what I have seen.

Also, I know when you apply for the Bar you have to do "character and fitness", and tell them EVERYWHERE you have worked, lived, and if you have misdemeanors and felonies...

I wonder if they would ever not let someone pass because they work in adult? Would someone be able to practice law if they promoted porn sponsors in the past or somehow was involved in internet porn? Would it look bad to disclose that type of info?

And also don't forget some schools teach by the "Socratic Method" where they single out one student and question and humiliate them in front of the class non-stop, and no matter what you say it is never the right answer....

Yes, there are a decent number of lawyers that frequent this board.

It's a worthy career if you keep the right perspective.

It is a lot of work from what my friends and family members that are involved in that career tell me.

Sometimes I also wonder if I should have persued those invitations to get a JD.

[QUOTE=Redrob]What was the hardest first-year course?

Evidence

What was the most interesting course?

First Amendment

Was the study load as bad I as hear it is?

Yep. You will have no life, at least for the first year. That is if you want to be on law review, or have some credentials to back up your tedious efforts. Law school is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

When graduated, were you prepared to take the Bar exam and practice law?

Yes, but I would recommend a school that focuses on bar pass statistics. A lot of schools just want the tuition. Do your research!

What do you need to know that they don't teach you?

The purpose of Law school is to hide the ball and MAKE you find it. Meaning not until 2nd year will you understand why in the hell they make you do all that hard work, or call on you in class room full of people just to intimate you, nor what it takes to ace an exam. So talk to some students that have gone before you at the school that you choose, and find out the key to playing the game. Then play the fuck out of it. ;)

And anything else that would be useful to a person considering law school.

Personally, I think it just molds you in a great way, it changes your thinking because it makes you think in a way that you have not before, and it pushes your limits. For me, I decided my last year that I would not practice law, but was more interested in entertainment law, and executive producing. But I don't think I would have figured that out - if I had not gone to law school.

Good luck! It is worth it. Cheers!

That took a little while. You should have added in the caveat that one pie was shared between each couple.

Bob's wife is Kathleen. They had Blueberry.
Dave's wife is Nancy. They had Peach Cream.
Hank's wife is Bonnie. They ate Cherry Cream.
Larry's wife is Fran. They had Banana Cream.
Phil's wife is Darla, and they had Apple.

... and now I'm hungry.

The answers to your questions are:

I have not applied to any law schools. I graduated UTexas in 84 with BBA with dual International Business/Marketing Majors with emphasis on marketing high technology products from IC2. Second, BA in Asian Studies with Japanese as language in 94.
