You mean the sites they represent now, who were helped being built up from free gallery submissions, and those submitters who provided content are now getting the shoulder ... and the company representing them trying to 'maximize profits' ... it just kills the little guys, I'm sure they don't care though, as long as they make more money... so, congrats on making money / more money..

But they were needed in the past. For that reason many submitters think they deserve free traffic for life, like if they were sending us their galleries as an act of charity.

Ok, here is the rundown. We do not cap the number of accounts because I feel that a good webmaster should always have a chance to get in and submit his high quality galleries. That's what I need to keep loyal Video-Post visitors happy.

At $39 per month we sold way too many accounts which could only mean one thing: The price was too cheap for what we offered. Many webmasters had purchased 2, 3 or 4 accounts. Obviously they must have been making a killing. However the high amount of accounts reduces the value for all webmasters and creates other irritations such as a high number of overflow declines (which didn't even have any impact on the amount of galleries that actually got posted).

In order to reduce the amount of overflow declines we decided to only allow webmasters to submit one gallery every second day. But it isn't guaranteed (even though easily achievable) so let's take $50 off that price. Here we are at $200. Since the links will be posted under the 30th spot let's half that price again and we come to the current price of $100 per month. I think it's a damn good value.

Now to the whiny webmasters who can't make a dime and are going to cancel their account. Guess what? That's exactly what we want! Go and submit to the thousands of small sites offering free submissions where you won't even get a fraction of the traffic Video-Post sends out. Video-Post will only keep serious webmaster who know what they are doing and make good money. Less submitters, less accounts - better webmasters, more listings for them.

Let me give you a small lession is business. Video-Post refers a huge amount of signups every day through it's gallery listings. As soon as a dumb webmaster stops buying, a smart webmaster will come along and snatch up that value. Why? Because where there is money to be made there will always be smart people exploiting it. As long as Video-Post sends out traffic referring signups it is offering a value that will be exploited.....and the current price is fair for what you get (see above thread for how I came to the price). I didn't just make it up. The price/value ratio must be ok otherwise we won't make any money.

You knew this was going to happen, you could have easily limited the amount of accounts that was going to be sold at $39 a month.

This also doesn't explain how your new reveiwer is a dick and will reject perfectly good galleries.

I have moaned about this and at Video Post quite a bit but I am going to give a flipside now as I think its only fair having bitched at them again in this thread.

Firstly, since my argument with VP before when they went from 1 each day to 1 every 2 days I have had a significant increase in galleries accepted so in reality they have been good on what they said. The only ones that have been rejected were due to resolution size which is a silly mistake on my part that should never have occured.

Secondly, in my experience the reviewer is not being a dick and just seems to be following the company line. I do appreciate though that we will all have different experiences but in mine, the guy is fair.

Thirdly, they let the submitters know this time so although its not welcome news at least you know in advance.

Now is it worthy of $100 per month? Time will tell, however its not just a case of will I make the money back on the VP listings, but more along the lines of can I get more bang for my buck by purchasing say another Worldsex/Al4a pass or maybe a mix of a Mature Post, a Marks Bookmarks and a Richards Realm?

Those are the choices facing a VP submitter now. No-one doubts the quality or the sheer amount of VP traffic but as with any business you must weigh up your potential risk versus rewards before you decide where to invest.

I did get some good traffic from video-post. He listed me in the top 3 links a few times in my 2 months with him, which brought in prolly around 100k hits each.

But with the implementation of every other day posts along with a 150% increase in the cost, its not worth it.

For me personally he listed 50% of my gals. So, 15 days MAX of posting, that'd be 7 galleries for $100.

After the bw bill, thats not worth it.

Actually, we have a script that juggles the positions of the links. GTS enteres them and the script randomizes the positions before it sends them on to my reviewer

pretty much any tgp that sells submit passes uses a script, and they arent going to waste any of their time going through and reorganizing galleries based on who they like better after the script makes the list.

Bla bla bla you can't compare apples with bananas. The only thing that counts is the amount of signups you end up with. There are so many factors before that - like cost of the pass, size of the site, number of clickthroughs to galleries, sponsor clickthroughs on the galleries, how many galleries you are allowed to submit, how many actually get posted etc etc

No I don't get a discount. I would consider myself friends with Mark but I'm sure that doesn't help me. I don't know Video-post at all.

I do take the time to make good, clean galleries though. I was getting accepted about 50% of the time under their own system, and that number is in fact rising just as promised from submitting only every other day.

I make more than I pay for my Video-Post partner accounts, even at $100 per, and in the end that's what really counts I guess.

Those are the choices facing a VP submitter now. No-one doubts the quality or the sheer amount of VP traffic but as with any business you must weigh up your potential risk versus rewards before you decide where to invest.
