There is also a vodka out there that is supposed to have 0 callories, and is made from soy, but I'm not sure where you'd find it because I had it at a record release party they co-sponsored.

On a serious not, alchohol + losing weight do not mix. It does all kinds of other things to your body besides the carbs.

On average, regular beers contain 145 calories and 11 grams of carbs per 12-ounce serving, but these numbers can vary. For example, Heineken has 166 calories and 9.8 grams of carbs, Budweiser has 143 calories and 10.6 grams of carbs, and Miller Genuine Draft has 143 calories and 13.1 grams of carbs.
Most "low-carb" beers vary between 95 and 110 calories, and contain between 2.6 grams and 6.6 grams of carbs per 12-ounce serving. But don't be fooled by the "light" label, Michelob Light has just as many calories and carbs as regular beer. ![]() |

The fact is that, when you cut carbs, you are also cutting calories, which is the real reason "low-carb" beers are better for your waistline. However, remember that any type of alcohol stimulates cortisol, which can make you gain weight. Therefore, you shouldn't count on low-carb beers as part of your diet plan. Your best bet would be to eliminate alcohol completely if you're trying to lose weight, but if this is not an option for you, low-carb beers are, in essence, a better choice than regular ones.

This alcoholic's choice and recommendation would have to be Jack D. and Coke.

karl - I had the same dilemna a few years back - although Ive gone back to drinking a little less but the sitting all day at the comp gave me back my gut - however - just running - although its a good start - probably isnt going to be enough to counter the calories youre taking in - expecially if you are pretty sedentary at your job - I assume youre at a comp.
Some type of mixed workouts including simple things like ab exercises (simple situps etc) with smaller consumption and a better choice of beers or alcohol should help - also - your body needs lots of water - even more when youre drinking - so increase the intake of water as well and make sure you take a good set of vitamins. You didnt mention it but make sure if you are trying to lose weight to eat lots of small meals - none of the sit till Im stuffed full type meals ![]() |

If you are only going to have a few, normal beers can range in 140-200 calories each bottle. So if you ate light that day or exercised, you can have 5 or so easy.
For alcohol, I think gin+tonic/lemon is one of the lighter ones.

To loose the weight I would recommend not drinking for a month. Hit the gym hard for that month really sticking to a good exercise and nutrition program. You should loose a good amount of fat and get your body in better shape. It?s a sacrifice but its only a month. The best way would be to slowly change your lifestyle. Start of with the exercise program, then work on your diet, then the drinking. Do it for a full month and you should be good. Then you can go back to the drinking. Make sure to keep up the exercise and you should be able to keep the fat off .

well I think if you are really serious in losing that belly you have to cut down on your drinking.

lol..you don't have to cut your drinking just to lose weight not unless you are deciding to really quit drinking. beer is only 0.5% or less of alcohol . it is malt liquor which makes it high in calories than other aloholic beverages i used to have hard drinks but recently been drinking beer (my pals, yeah they all drink beer.. so who's with me for the tequila? i guess none...
![]() check this informative links http://my.webmd.com/content/article/100/105731.htm *The total calories and alcohol content vary depending on the brand. Moreover, adding mixers to an alcoholic beverage can contribute calories in addition to the calories from the alcohol itself. http://www.dietbites.com/CalorieIndexSpirits.html http://cocktails.about.com/library/weekly/aa070999.htm http://www.lifescript.com/www/Health...ages/index.asp
