Entice the user in with the lure of free material [in your model's case, cracked software] and then cross sell them on material that has compelling value that appeals to a very common denominator--porn. TGP model is more on point but uses the same approach--entice with free porn, user gets excited about a particular gallery, clicks on sponsor link.

If what you say is true then what's preventing webmasters from building sites that focus on high traffic non-adult content categories [e.g. health, finance, politics] and using adult banners and galleries? I've seen a couple of these [the finance version] but if the approach you're saying really converts well, why don't we see these "cross over" sites [OUTSIDE OF THE WAREZ CATEGORY] on a large scale?

i wanted to know more about how contemporary art galleries ran ( so i wouldn't get ripped off by art dealers ) and by the age of 33 i was assistant director at one of the top galleries in Canada

i wanted to learn more about smart card technology and by the time i turned 34 - what should have been my early retirement, made me lose everything (but this was one of the few times when i was not in control of the situation)

i wanted to make use of the computers and equipment that i got in the settlement from the above company to make money and teach myself all about the adult industry and how to survive in this business

almost 6 years later and i'm still here, making more money than i ever have before in my life, working for myself and although often complaining about a bad day or week, not really wanting to change a thing about my business

You told about your Mom's letter and that is a good example of the fact that people dont really GET that kind of advice. Everyone has to "find" the truth of life himself. Any decent psychologist can tell you how to live a balanced life during the first meeting, but still you have to visit that fucker for years before you discover the balance yourself.

Good post anyways, but just a thought about SACRIFICE.
I dont quite agree here. I think you can make a decent living within any business by working 7 hours a day and you dont need to sacrifice the important things of your other life like sex and friends and consuming beer. And if decent is not enough, you can just hire people to do your stuff

Theres no point in doing any business if thats ALL you do in life.

Anyways I agree on Amp's first post, I have been doing this for years and for the first 3-4 years I was slacking, did some free sites, didn't understand anything.. gave away too much, too cheap etc. I believe most webmasters start out that way, which is not good. There's too many new webmasters every day hoping to get lucky. For the people who really invest in this and dedicate their lives to porn this is a setback.

Lets look at it this way, you plan to open a burger restaurant. Ok, you get good quality meals, make contracts with suppliers and spend a fortune on marketing. You know your shit, success should be around the corner. NO! Around a corner is 200 small joints selling burgers cheaper with stolen meat inside. hehe..

actually you're far way wrong. Most of these kids earn pennies, but I do know some guys that are in both industries and their porn sponsors through warez bring 6 digits of $ per year easily. Three of them post once in a while here. Traffic is everything and people seen less porn than the rest will convert better. It's not necessary at all to look for porn to purchase a membership. Popup a porn sponsor in a mainstream big traffic site and see more memberships than your lifetime hun listings.

Sure... in fact, it's a smart thing to do during growth stages of business... but FINDING someone with the skills reequired is not always an easy task. I've been looking for a new designer to come in a TAKE 50% of my profits by simply doing design work.. but I have YET to find someone capable of producing under my exacting standards.... Who is worthy? The guy or gal that can fucking produce. Period. Hiring is not always as easy as it sounds.

TGP model is more on point but uses the same approach--entice with free porn, user gets excited about a particular gallery, clicks on sponsor link. If what you say is true then what's preventing webmasters from building sites that focus on high traffic non-adult content categories [e.g. health, finance, politics] and using adult banners and galleries? I've seen a couple of these [the finance version] but if the approach you're saying really converts well, why don't we see these "cross over" sites [OUTSIDE OF THE WAREZ CATEGORY] on a large scale? Any decent psychologist can tell you how to live a balanced life during the first meeting, but still you have to visit that fucker for years before you discover the balance yourself. Good post anyways, but just a thought about SACRIFICE. I dont quite agree here. I think you can make a decent living within any business by working 7 hours a day and you dont need to sacrifice the important things of your other life like sex and friends and consuming beer. And if decent is not enough, you can just hire people to do your stuff Theres no point in doing any business if thats ALL you do in life.
