If your provider has gigabit switches, & NICs sure, but It'll probably cost you a little more.

Sure you can, its more expensive but you can get it. Gigabit copper is probally your best bet

You can use gigabit fiber nic cards OR 1000 Copper Ethernet Nic Cards.
SplitInfinity offers gigabit switch links.... fiber OR copper. |

A fiber NIC card is like 200 bucks...
A fiber GBIC for a Cisco GBIC port is like 120 bucks Fiber cable is like 45.00 for a 6 ft cable. Copper GIgabit Ethernet on the other hand is becoming just as cheap as regular ethernet (10/100). And they are backwards compatible. Most servers we order come standard with gigabit ethernet ports that do 10/100/1000. A typical macintosh computer has 10/100/1000 nic card built in... just to show you how mainstream gigabit copper is. |
