hiya
it's not really a case of price, these guys are fucking with me in different ways, there's somethin going on there that nobody is talking about... perhaps they have lost an upstream or are about to go broke ??? they are blaming me for aup violations and cut some servers which is pretty rich considering the ips they gave me were spews when I got them...

it's odd considering nobody in tech support can tell me what I've done (which is obviously nothing) or even if anyone can confirm

wtf

I'm considering litigation

Looks like candid have fucked up pretty big today, pulling a lot of JB machines over AUP violations that where caused by previous customers over 12 months ago!

Anyone got a number for someone in candid who has power to make decisions?

Are we witnessing another LikeWhoa?

They pulled about 7 Servers today/yesterday without warning, quoting it as an AUP problem, but would not be specific as to which part of the AUP has been breached. (Read: I can vouch that JB has DEFINATELY NOT breached any of their AUP terms)

The support team mentioned that they have removed 10 customers at once in the last couple of days. So its not just JB that has been completely turfed.

Upon calling support they said JB had a SPEWS record, which is the exact same one thats been on those IP's since they where allocated months ago!! Sounds like a very constructive company policy; hand out dirty IP's to your new customers and then six months later decide its the new customers fault and kill their account without warning!! (Read: The Spews record has nothing to do with JB)

Some nazi peice of shit has dropped the ball over there big time, and their support staff are less useful than a packed bus of retards. Rumour has it that they've replaced all their useful staff with indians.

If anyone is still using Candid and you do not heed this warning and move your servers *TODAY* you may want to consider applying for a support position at the above mentioned company. These guys are a sinking ship.. jump rats, Jump!!

I just moved away from them as well - CD34 has set up his own company located in the NAP of America's - http://www.colo-cation.com - running Apache2 and Tux - my sites are running 10 times as fast now and it's cheaper by a long shot - and with him running the company and providing his own server expertise you can't go wrong.

Candid had the worst support I've ever used for a host and I've used a great deal of them. Moving away from them was the smartest move I've ever made. I can't deal with tech support that just don't give as shit.

This was last summer, I figure about 25% of the time I called for support I got to talk to an admin, the other times they made up shit like he's out to lunch or jacking off in the server room. Finally got fed up.

This guy hosts a ton of password sites. We have had out of court settlements with him and a friend of mine was released given $2k out of court settlement due to sites he hosts.

Yeah.. It's ok for you to do this in a thread when a host bites the dust but when I did it to you for having downtime I had a shit storm come my way by your posse. Sometimes it's all politics and I'll remember that.

i moved away from candidhosting about 45 days ago, but i found their support to be really helpful. it's true, sometimes the admin on shift was busy, but there was also a tech on 24/7.

on the other hand, terming someone and not being able to tell them why is serious shit!

bumpidy bump.. at this point they just need access to their data which is not being provided by candid, infact candids support is absolutely USELESS.

Once again, if your with candid, you know what to do.

Juicybucks,

Sorry to here of all the problems you are experiencing with your current hosting company. If it helps? I can give a server that you could use for free immediately? it is currently online with a full duplex 100Mpb connection.

Server specifications: http://www.e5hosting.com/dedicated100.php

You may use it for as long as you need to work out your situation.

Anthony

FYI Newbies, Candid are now called "PowerMedium"

Anthony: thats a really generous offer mate, I've let Scott know, we've got a few machines backed up on standby but the mission critical data we require access to is still not being provided by these guys. JB is up to about the 100th International phone call from Australia to the USA and still getting nowhere, and getting no information.

Juicybucks appreciates everyones support.

I think their support staff think that this can wait until Monday. And they call themselves a an Internet Hosting company!

Its a real pity, these guys apparantly used to be quite good. I hear they where taken over and its all gone downhill fast since then.

Good Luck

yeah changing the name won't help, if u signup for an account now don't say u weren't warned when u ask tech support for help (if u can get a hold of them).

Like I had mentioned in the other thread, I am going to tampa bay to pick up a bunch of servers belonging to a client that was shut down from their data center to bring back to our NOC.

I've talked to Scott, and we would be happy to bring juicybucks servers back as well and set them up asap.

You guys call me if you decide to go this route.

Scott has my personal cell phone number.

Fellas who were complaining about the poor technical support didnt mention whether you were leasing managed or unmanaged servers. If they're unmanaged, and you're paying say $89-129 for you're average p4 server.. unless there is a hardware, a network or an issue requiring an OS re-install the NOC should have a way for you to automatically reboot your server and you should be able to manage the box on your own, so I wouldnt see why you would need to contact them at all really. If it is a managed server, and you're paying $400/month for it, you should be able to get ahold of someone 24/7 via the phone and have no problems what so ever.

Damn, I've had 2 servers there for about a year or so, a couple minutes downtime in that time. Tech support has been a little slow at times but always stayed in touch and got everything going eventually, sorry to hear about this...

I can second this. Techie media is insane in their level of support. I sent the tech guy a gift certificate to Amazon to say thanks. He said "all host do this stuff." He has no clue how bad Candid is.
