some things you should know about gotwebhost i find interesting
they claim they are from wheatfield indiana.
thats fine. Name: gotwebhost.com Address: 66.63.161.16 fris# whois -a 66.63.161.16 OrgName: OC3 Networks & Web Solutions, LLC OrgID: ONWSL Address: 530 West 6th Street Address: Suite 504 City: Los Angeles StateProv: CA PostalCode: 90014 Country: US when they are actually getting their bandwidth from oc3 networks which has a /19 which is 8160 ips. which is good, for SEO hosting, but they say its theirs, but they are just resellers, it would be nice if they told the truth. they are just reselling off oc3networks space. not their own. I know if i was gonna move all my sites over to them, i would do some investigating and make sure i knew the whole scoop before. Do they even have an office? or is it just icq support and a phone in some parents basement? things i am sure all of you would like answered. There are alot of SE guys that are potential clients of gotwebhost and would like things clarified. So i am sure they would like things answered to all these questions.

they have to call oc3networks, so they are bascially stalling why you are trying to get a straight answer. when people like phatservers has their own space in the datacenter, webair , etc. people have racks, cages, etc. they dont need to resell, cause they can afford their own space in datacenters. because i knew a mickey mouse operation couldnt get a hold of that many ips. when i worked at a webhosting company every ip we reqested from arin. we had to give a valid reason, they are really picky on ips now cause of the demand. how soon will ipv6 be in effect 4-5 years down the road? of course if you are a major server provider its easier like webair, phatservers.

Thanks for doing the research Fris, much appreciated. What do you think of Rackspace? I think I saw you posting good things about them before, just curious what you could find out about their operation.

Wiredguy, no matter who you end up using be sure you check your ip #'s in case they have a history of being blacklisted.

Fris, with all due respect:
1. We have multiple datacenters. 2. As stated by keyboard warrior - all hosts are resellers 3. We are incorporated. Our corporate office is in Wheatfield, IN |

i know you use them, much respect for rackspace, i used them a long time ago,yes they are more expensive, but you will get nothing but profesionals, people that know what is going on, the best bandwidth. you can trust your hosting with them. even if you have a dedicated server with them you will get your moneys worth, you wont have to worry about it, your server will be in good hands. i remember back in the day when i was paying out the butt just for 80 gigs of transfer on a dedicated. if you talk to anyone and mention the name rackspace. i am sure they will share the same thoughts. they are listed on most webhost directories

there is nothing wrong with co-locating in different datacenters, especially if you're trying to get your clients as many /24 unique ips as possible. i sure as all hell would rather host with gotwebhost than webair - why does webair do any public hosting anyway? surely, their spamhosting operation should be making them enough dosh. how does anyone run mailservers on webair ip space anyway? they're blacklisted everywhere. yes, all hosting is reselling, unless you're hosting with a tier 1 carrier. but why would you want to do that? unless you've got a fairly large operation, you should never even consider purchasing transit from tier 1 carriers directly - all bar none have absolutely horrible support and you're much better off going with a solid tier 2 who will do multihoming for you. |

if you're a small (under 10 boxes) dedicated server client or virtual hosting client, your number 1 priority in a host is finding clueful people. if they know what they're doing, are honest people and charge enough to be able to afford not to cut any corners, you're golden.
have there been any specific complaints about the quality of service provided by gotwebhost? |
