but seriously - I've known 2 people that have cut off - you need to be really careful - one of the people went into the hospital for a few days with some heart issues after stopping cold-turkey

Exactly.......I had grand mal seizures when I went off Xanax. Taper off over a long period of time. I eventually had to taper with longer acting drugs like Valium, Restoril, and Soma in order to get off Xanax.

Xanax is definately the hardest benzo to quit.

weed will most likely not help panic attacks if thats what you take xanax for homeboy

it will help with the psychosis & withdrawls once you're off it though

also ask for some sort of anti convulsant, because you got a 50/50 shot at seizures...

I was very very nervous and shaky for about a week.

My hands broke out in little bumps for about 3 months :-(

Getting off of them was one of the best things I have ever done.

I felt like I was tripping for 6 months. Granted I was up to over 30 mg (yes 30 mg) of Xanax each day.

For the first couple of weeks all I could do was eat the anti-siezure meds and sit in the dark. Went over 6 days without sleeping a week. Pure fucking hell.

30mg, extremely bad case of anxiety i s'pose. Usually here it's exchange fow lower dosages of longer lasting meds of the same class, but of course I dunno bout your case.

My first piece of advice...don't simply decide to alter your own dosing. I assume you trusted your doctor enough initially to let him/her put you on a medication. So, you should also trust your doctor to make the right decisions to take you off or alter either the dosage or type of medication you are taking.

If you have read any of my earlier threads when I first happened upon GFY in March, you would probably know that I can speak with some authority in the field of psych. medications. The adult industry is a fun side line. At the day job, I work as a Research Scientist in the discipline of Behavioral Medicine.

There's lots of questions I can't ethically provide answers to in this sort of arena, but there is one thing I can tell you. Use this board for amusement purposes. But please, trust your doctor for any real advice you may require.

Be careful coming off that shit. I was on it after college because of the job I had, and couldn't sleep at night. It really fucks with the chemicals in the brain from memory loss, and feelign groggy, and all that jazz.

With any pills like that, you have to come off them slowly otherwise you might end up in the E.R. or go crazy (if you remember some of the stories in the news from a few years back on certain one's where people killed themselves or others). Those can all be dangerous, and you have to slowly reduce your doses until you taper off them. Especially if you've been on them for some time.

I've never done weed or contraband, so I can't speak to that part of it.

Both xanax and valium have a tendancy to create the very problem they are fixing..

Usually prescribed to help combat panic attacks or narcoleptic symptoms.

But the ACTUAL problem is usually a very isolated short-term problem, not requiring long term medication..

The problem is , when you stop taking drugs like xanax or valium that you have been taking for awhile, the withdrawl symptoms mimic the ACTUAL problems you were having, making you think you still need the drugs..

DIET - POSTURE - STRESS - change the levels of those three things and you wont need xanax or valium..

Both xanax and valium have a tendancy to create the very problem they are fixing.. Usually prescribed to help combat panic attacks or narcoleptic symptoms. But the ACTUAL problem is usually a very isolated short-term problem, not requiring long term medication.. The problem is , when you stop taking drugs like xanax or valium that you have been taking for awhile, the withdrawl symptoms mimic the ACTUAL problems you were having, making you think you still need the drugs..
