Google sued over "click fraud" in Web ads
SAN FRANCISCO, June 29 (Reuters) - A seller of online marketing tools said on Wednesday it sued Google Inc., charging that the Web search giant has failed to protect users of its advertising program from "click fraud," costing them at least $5 million.
Click Defense Inc. filed its lawsuit, which also seeks class action status, on June 24 in U.S. District Court in San Jose, California. Google, which had first-quarter net revenue of $1.3 billion, makes virtually all of its money from search ads. The company, whose stock earlier this week briefly topped $300 after debuting at $85 in August, has previously said that click fraud is not material to its results and that it has technology and teams working to prevent it. Full Story ____________________________________ That is Fucked up, they are already charging a bundle ![]() We have used Google, but it is very diffucult to detect Fruad, although one always suspects it. What is your experience? Do you think Google could be doing it on purpose? ______________________ |

The name of the plaintiff alone sounds interesting. Hopefully something good comes out of this and I don't mean the FAT attorney fees that usually arise from class action suits.

Fraud? Hmmmm I thinks it's more of a case that they can't believe how fucking bad the traffic was so it "must" be fraud.
If I was paying for each click I already get to my websites I would be pissed with the results. |

My opinion is google is going to crush these guys. Its probaly last ditch effert and big for publicity. If they suspected fraud why would they spend so much on advertising with google.

I love Google adwords, and it can be profitible, but it's about time that they became accountible for their own system.
Click fraud is rampant in their system and they do little to combat it. Unless you can afford good tracking, and have the time to analyze logs regularly, you can be hit with up to 20% fraudulent clicks. Depending on the industry, I've seen people be credited 10% of all clicks. I hope they lose, and are forced to actually spending some money on click fraud prevention. |

Click Defense, INC. lol what a phoney and made up business name directed
right at what they were planning from the start.. Probalbly a few friends of google, putting up phoney suits to protect themselves from further suits down the road.... Rule #1 Protect your own business using any means neccessary, maybe they need the information from courts whether they win or lose to know how to defend later. |

You'd think google would get a handle on this since they end up being the biggest loser.
I'll be watching for my class action check. |
