Hi Ramos,

My Wife is 1/2 Korean and she eats Kimchi quite a bit

I don't like it as it's way to spicy for me.

I've always wanted to try it. They have some in a jar in our local (small) grocery store's salad section (refridgerated). Would that be good or is it like cookies - storebought usually tastes like crap?

Peaches,

The stuff we get at Safeway - Mary seems to say that it is as good as the stuff I sometimes buy her at the local korean market.

My kids love the heck out of it too

Do not buy it at any American grocery store, please go to an Asian Market, for the good good stuff. You may be shot at because they are usually in bad neighborhoods, but if you can make, it's Worth it!

The best Korean food is those rice sticks/cakes in red sauce. Not sure what it's called... but this is kinda what it looks like:

I love that stuff. So chewy and the red suace is HOT and delicious

Hot pickled cabbage. Personally I'm not a big fan, although I do like some Korean foods.

When I was a kid living in Hawaii, my sister bought a bottle of Kimchee and then opened the jar in our car and proceeded to spill it. The car reeked for a week no matter how many times my Dad told my sister to scrub it down again...

I like the Korean restaurants that let you cook the marinated beef yourself on a gas grill at your table. In Korea they even have restaurants that have hot coal stoves built into the table, which tastes even better. Just thinking about it makes it possible to almost smell and taste it.

Hmmm...I'm thinking Korean BBQ tonight.

Fun post...thanks!

mmmmmm, GOOD stuff! :D

One of the drunkest evening I've ever had was in San Francisco. We were 10 or so and one of us ordered chicken gizzards and a pitcher of Soju. Never tried either before and Soju was good stuff, but I could be without the gizzards . At the end of the evening we had emptied their Soju stash and we ended up having shopping cart race outside a store to sober up.
Oh those young foolish days

Wow, usually Americans can't handle spicy foods.

98% of all "spicy" American-made hot sauce is shit.

Growing up I had kimchee quite a bit, and when I visited Korea I had a chance to try all of the food in the native land. Unfortunately, I was 11 at the time and didn't know how to take in the travel.

Besides, my trip was always overshadowed by a small, fraile woman forcefully yelling and mispronouncing my name (she never could get it correct, even to this day) and smacking the shit out of me for shits and giggles. Luckily, that didn't scar me.
