Digital Camera

I'm looking for a real opinion on a compact or ultra compact cameras. What do you think is the best one to have these days? What do you think is most important 4, 5 or higher mega pixels. 3 times optical zoom good enough or would you go more.

I was leaning towards the canon sd 400 before I posted. Do you think 3x zoom is good? That's the only thing holding me back.

Anything that comes up at anytime. That's why it's so hard to choose.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec.../canon_s70.asp

i got one a month or so ago... great camera... i can even shoot with it and people wouldnt know the difference... i recommend this one... its a bit larger than the others mentioned above, but worth it... check that one out... buttons and navigation are very easy too..

Someone on livejournal always posts the most AMAZING looking pics that were taken using a Canon IXY 3.2 - apparently it's a model only available in Japan.

I have a Canon S410 - photos are CRAP compared to these pics I've seen. Anyone know what the American equivalent to this model might be?

i have a canon s400 and i have the Sony t7 ..... i use the T7 the most and at all the shows ... it's paper thin and i can carry it in my back pocket .... the canon is probably a better camera but i just use it mostly at home with the kids or if we go to a park or something... it's a bit bigger then the Sony

well, if its for everyday use, for travelling and shit, i can suggest you to get one of the small nikons, i have a 3100 and she does the job, it's ultra small and light, prolly there will be some new models out there now tho.

If you are looking for video cams, there was a currently released diposable vidcams right now; capable of saving 20 to 25 minute clip.

Cannon sd400 or sd500 are amazing cameras, and both take short video clips with sound. I'm looking to buy one soon.

I need one that is small, has a good zoom (nature pictures), but I don't need video capabilities. Any suggestions?

There are digital zooms and optical zooms - one's good and one isn't but I can't remember which
