![]() I have totally lost the last 2 days.
First, despite my being viligant with updates and running anti-virus (and spyware) programs every single day my PC was taken down by a virus. While struggling through rebuilding after a format I was treated to my AC going out. Since it was late night I sweated it out till morning. As I was leaving for Walmart I thought that would be a good time to start an old VHS tape I wanted to transfer to DVD. As the tape rewound, it snapped ![]() Went to Walmart and their choices were some brand I wasn't familiar with (started with an H) and GE, so I got a GE rated for twice the size of the room it's for. They had 3 on the shelf and I got the only one that hadn't been opened. I have a bad disc in my back and I shouldn't have but I managed to get the new AC into the house and the old one out of the window by myself. I go to put the mount and side panels on the new AC and the factory had packed the WRONG screws! ...all too big to fit. ![]() I decide to check Lowes to see what they have before returning the other one to Walmart. It was exactly the moment I pulled into my parking space at Lowes it dawns on me that I had earlier changed pants, leaving not only my card in the other pants pocket but also the receipt for the AC ![]() ![]() Got the other one in the house, assembled, put in the window and all the screws put in to anchor it. Plugged it in, put it on the lowest thermostat and highest fan settings... over an hour ago... If I go stick my face right up in it, it's about as cool as sticking your face in front of a $10 desk fan. I can't believe I've got to take that bastard apart, pack it back up and make another return. ![]()

Turn the fan DOWN. Turning it up disperses the air too quickly for the readiator to condensate.
Put the fan on the lowest setting. Also, by lowest thermostate some machines will cool less. make sure this isn't the case. Sometimes it means "Lowest Cooling" sometimes it means "Lowest Temperature" |
