As I was leaving for Walmart I thought that would be a good time to start an old VHS tape I wanted to transfer to DVD. As the tape rewound, it snapped

Went to Walmart and their choices were some brand I wasn't familiar with (started with an H) and GE, so I got a GE rated for twice the size of the room it's for. They had 3 on the shelf and I got the only one that hadn't been opened.

I have a bad disc in my back and I shouldn't have but I managed to get the new AC into the house and the old one out of the window by myself. I go to put the mount and side panels on the new AC and the factory had packed the WRONG screws! ...all too big to fit. I really really tried to force those screws in but there was no doing. I gave up and fought with the computer some more but this was the hottest day so far this year (92, but felt 15-20 cooler outside than inside) so drenched and about to pass out from the heat I repacked the POS and manage to get it back into the car.

I decide to check Lowes to see what they have before returning the other one to Walmart. It was exactly the moment I pulled into my parking space at Lowes it dawns on me that I had earlier changed pants, leaving not only my card in the other pants pocket but also the receipt for the AC I checked ACs anyway while I was there and saw a Frigidaire basically the same specs as the GE so decided I'd come back and get it. {Here's the only good part of the day: 1 Biggie ice tea from Wendy's, enjoyed while waiting for a slow train crossing keeping me 2 blocks from home }

Got the other one in the house, assembled, put in the window and all the screws put in to anchor it. Plugged it in, put it on the lowest thermostat and highest fan settings... over an hour ago... If I go stick my face right up in it, it's about as cool as sticking your face in front of a $10 desk fan. I can't believe I've got to take that bastard apart, pack it back up and make another return.

Why no Central Air ?
