![]() Here is my question to you bluetooth know it alls (sorry I am copying and pasting a message I just sent to infiniti support)
I recently purchased a 2006 infiniti M45 Sport. I am thrilled with the car and am loving it more everyday. ![]() The only issue I have is that I want to purchase a Telus bluetooth phone and apparently I can only use Rogers or Fido bluetooth phones with my car? As it mentions here these are the only models that will work with my car. http://infiniti.ca/en/models/06_m35_...echnology.html My question is this... Will any bluetooth phone work with my vehicle or will only Rogers and Fido phones work with the vehicle? DH |

![]() sorry, this always comes to mind when people say bluetooth... and personally, if your phone calls are important i would stick with telus.. (i know that doesn't answer your question, but just a suggestion)

For some reasons some phone only work with some cars. I looked at an Acura a while back and they has a list of phones that would work with it. It was a short list too. What I would do is take the car with you when you go to buy the phone and have the salesman come out to your car and see if it works.
You might want to read this http://www.cellularphoneforums.com/t168036.html but it confused me more than it helped.

Hehe it's funny you mention that but I actually did that exact thing today. I went to the Telus store and asked for them to see if the phone would work in the car. The salesguy brought out a 710 bluetooth Motorola (that was not connected to service mind you) and it would not connect to the car's bluetooth system ![]() The salesguy thought it might be because the phone was not connected with service yet (he just took it out of the box). I think that the phone won't work because it's not one of the approved phones on the list. I don't want to have to drive the car 30 minutes to the dealer's just to see if he can connect my phone up to the car. Kind of seems a bit much if you ask me... I don't really want to buy a fido or rogers phone as I already have a contract with Telus and it will be expensive for me to cancel. ![]() DH |

Wow, Telus sure doesn't offer many Bluetooth phones, do they? It looks like that Motorola one is the only real option.
I'm not positive about this, but I think that Infinity has to limit the number of phones that will work with it. I think that because the G35 console is more like an actual computer with an opperating system, they have to "pair" each cellular phone with the system before it will connect. In order to keep things simple, Infinity likely chose those phones and paired them for use in your car when they compiled the opperating system. Here's a couple of options: Have you contacted Infinity HQ? Perhaps there is an update CD that they can give you to make new Bluetooth phones work? What phones are supported for the U.S. model of Inifinity? Remember, that you can buy a phone from the states (ebay) and have it unlocked to work with Telus here in Canada. You may want to check with an instore Telus person to make sure that you can migrate your Mike contract plan to an unlocked phone. If you're buy a Mall, there are "multi-vendor" cell shops that carry phones from Bell, Teuls, Rogers, and Fido. If it's not busy, you'll likely be able to talk them into brining some bluetooth phones out to your car to test out. It doesn't matter if they're activated on a plan or not - your car should "see" the phone without activation.

Bluetooth is basically a wireless connection transmitted via radio waves (gives me a head ache after 10 mins with it on).
So you can have a bluetooth usb port, and have your cell phone upto 10 metres from your pc and you can still transfer things from and to the phone. You can get upto 100metre Bluetooth connections also. I've seen recently some cool bluetooth Printers, again where it can be upto 10metres away from the PC and it works fine. As it's radio waves though it's like sticking your head in the microwave for 5 minutes, I have a bluetooth headset for when i'm driving :- ![]() If you want a cool Bluetooth phone, get a SE S700i :- ![]() ![]() |
